Hi all,
I have an R6300v2 which I just upgraded to 44340. Working great, but I noticed the overclock frequencies are limited to 600 or 800 MHz, while my old firmware (unfortunately misplaced exact version, but it was from 2015) allowed speeds up to 1600 MHz.
Just for fun, I'd previously improved the cooling capabilities and added a small fan, and I was hoping to test these higher frequencies with the new firmware.
Apologies if this information is elsewhere, but I could not find it. Is there a new-ish firmware which will allow those higher frequencies? Or, is it possible to enable them myself somehow?
Well, probably you can bypass it via command line but keep in mind this limitation very likely is to safeguard the router from yourself. It doesn't scale well, can and will easily fry.
I was previously running at 1200 MHz long term with no issues. Was a bit hesitant to up that to 1600 haha.
Interestingly, when testing with the 600/800 options, I realized that I was getting throughput consistent with 1200 MHz until I manually set those. I'm guessing that even though I reset before/after upgrading firmware, the frequency was unchanged.
I've been trying with the command line, but no luck. Do you happen to know the proper command, or know of a good reference for them? What I've found so far hasn't been working.
*edit* Nevermind, tried again after a reset and it works. For anyone else that might need it: nvram set clkfreq #
So at 600 MHz I get about 259 Mbps when testing throughput with iPerf. At 1000 MHz I get around 357 Mbps. Pretty decent improvement, although I was expecting to get closer to 1G speeds. Not sure what that is all about!
