Please list router model & revision, operating & wireless mode(s) and exact filename/firmware image flashed.


Downloads: (DD-WRT website) HTTPS & FTP (try another if a link doesn't work)

CLI Flash: 'cd /tmp' then 'wget {file URL}' (or 'curl -k {file URL} -o {file}') with http (not https) or ftp. Then 'write {file} linux'.

Repository: Trac SVN changelog since last build r44406 (GitHub mirror)

Notes:
• CVE-2019-14899 VPN fix (applicability depends on VPN setup) and GUI toggle. 6920, 6928, 6931, 6932 (WIP 7040)
In-kernel Samba has been implemented this year and default min/max versions have changed 6954, 6957, with WSD support.
• VAP issue is fixed! For any Wireless Mode, create a VAP and both ath0/ath1 should now function properly.
• Local DNS option removed from Services->DNSMasq in changesets 43080 and 43081; ref: #7092
• DHCP and DNS help (English) updated in 43083; ref: #7091
• WireGuard 1.0.20200908 & Tools: PBR, Kill Switch, Inbound Firewall, Naming of Peers, Status, Key, Guides. Thanks BS & egc!

Issues:
• There may be remaining issues for Samba (for example NTFS), with frequent updates.

Important:
• If reporting issues provide applicable info: 'dmesg', 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages', syslog, serial output, strace, tcpdump etc.
• For firewall NAT or WAN issues provide 'iptables -vnL', 'iptables -t nat -vnL', 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' and the /tmp/.ipt file.
• Search existing SVN tickets before opening a new one. Before reporting, reset and manually setup (no nvram backup).
• Be sure to include operating and wireless modes (Gateway, AP, CB, etc.) along with relevant configuration information.

flashed, no problems as of yet, and the dns seems to respond quicker on this one for me like assigning them to computers there was a delay on the last one of about 30 seconds

Upgraded WRT1200AC v1's from r44406 to r44467 using Brave Version 1.10.97 (64-bit) running on Linux Mint 20 OS.

Successful update and reboot. No reset, nothing disabled prior to update, uptime aproximatly 16 hrs, wired/wireless connected, vpn up immediately (Expressvpn). I do not use NAS. SFE is always disabled. OpenVPN client/DNSMasq, QoS with PIE always enabled.

Kernel Version Linux 4.9.236 #2119 SMP Thu Sep 24 03:30:13 +03 2020 armv7l

Wired/wireless/VPN/VPN passthru/DNSMasq/QoS working with no issues

Reading about wireless drop problems some users are having I've looked at my setup which has had no wireless problems for many releases. The only setting that I have that may/maynot differ from others is my routers IPv6 is disabled. I have never had it enabled. The following is one of the only problems I've had with wireless drops for some time.

After a router firmware update (a dozen or more releases ago) my Sony BR players (S6500/S6700) would only connect for a few minutes up to ten/twenty minutes and then drop the wireless connection. I had never had this problem before the update. Frustration when no changes in wireless setup on the router or players fixed the problem. The fix was when I remembered that I have IPv6 disabled in the router (Since forever).

Apparently some small change in that router update caused the BR players to start a background effort to connect to IPv6 (best guess??) even though it was connected to IPv4. After doing a manual wireless setup on both players and disabling the players wifi IPv6 option (can only be done in manual wireless setup) they have since wirelessly streamed for hundreds of hours without issues.

I'm not suggesting this is a fix or even a cause of wireless drops but only to shine a light on one possibility for wireless drops for some devices depending on your setup. Possibly just a change in the IPv6 setup tab if it's enabled?

Edit: The IPv6 issue only affected my Sony devices as all other wireless devices connected as usual.

NAS via USB Samba Conditional - Abends with out of memory errors from time to time.

Wifi (more or less) Stays clean as long as I "keep alive" auto boot every 24 hours.

Update from 44048 to 44467 no reset and everything seems to be working ok with devices which had problems with last few versions connecting to WiFi ie iPad v2, iPhone 7+ and Roku

I hate to be the turd in the punchbowl again, but shortly after upgrading from 44048, connected Apple wifi clients stopped routing IP traffic. WIFI signal remains strong and devices are connected but the traffic doesn't go anywhere. Can't ping the router itself. Disabling and reenabling the wifi on the Apple device fixes it immediately. I tried 'forgetting' my wifi network on my iphone and reentering it, but no luck. I let it run overnight, and in the morning, disabled all radios and wifi security, reapplied all radios and wifi security, rebooted, but no luck. Initially, everything is performing well. After running a couple of speedtests on the iphone or macbook pro, IP traffic stops. Recycling wifi fixes it immediately. Doesn't take more than a minute or two to reproduce. Nothing out of ordinary in syslog or dmesg. Fell back to 44048 and everything is fine.

For 5 GHz try lowering channel width, another extension channel then wireless channel within 149-161 or 36-48.

On the ETHERNET side things move very well, it runs without problems 1Gbps,in the speed test it has a value somewhere at 934 Mbps..



A little clarification I want to make, on the 5Ghz wifi side I can no longer reach a speed higher than 470Mbps in download, even on 2 Ghz the speed decreased, the rest of the settings are default...
As a recommendation, on the wifi side you better go back to this drive version 06-15-2020-r43420 #1, in this wifi version it is stable and good speeds in speed test!
I also encountered this problem in OpenWrt since they came up with the last three changes in the wifi driver...

All devices have connected to wifi, so far everything is ok and I want to add that ipv6 is stable and if changes are made in some tabs it continues to be active and most importantly the web interface is stable!

I am having the exact same issue on WRT1200AC v1. All settings in default. Channel width 20 Mhz.
Reconnecting to wifi fixes the problem but has to be done every 30 minutes or so.

Following @blkt advice, while running 44048, I changed my 5ghz radios to wide HT40 and picked 36-up and 44-up. Rebooted both routers. Then upgraded via GUI with safari, no reset, to 44467 from 44048 which was the last good build for me. I tried several other builds since then but had wifi hanging issues (like several others) and had to fall back to 44048 several times.

Issues: Uptime 8-hours and all devices connected - no hangups. So far so good. Thanks for the suggestion @blkt! Getting some weird performance numbers with speedtest on various apple devices - depending on their age and model. Also, failing bufferbloat on dslreports with some macbooks via wifi, but a hardwired iMac passes with A+. Something still seems funky with the wifi, or maybe some apple devices don't like HT40, but so far it's reliable.

Wireguard client: Using Mullvad client config following parts of Hellakenut's "idiots guide for commercial clients" and egc's updated guide to eliminate the startup script.

I have the same experience using a wrt1900ac v1. ipad/iphone/laptop all behave the same with both 2.4 and 5GHz. I have tried tinkering with all the settings and the only fix iis to disable wmm support. This obviously cripples the speed but it seems to be working okay.

This doesn't make any sense to me. The only problem I have had with ESP8266 devices (SONOFF) is their failure on the 3200 and the new feature did not help. As for my 1900 V1's I have never had a problem.

Everyone has different configuration habits with a unique set of connected client devices.

Changesets for this new workaround, 44394 through 44398, specifically mention wrt1900ac etc.

Have pointed out various mwlwifi issues threads in the past, but maybe forgotten. ESP8266 has different firmwares too.
