Post a picture of the basic and advanced settings windows for the wifi radios.

Please make sure to edit the pictures to 768 pixels wide.

The pixel uses Qualcom for the main cpu...can't recall if that also means qca wifi or not, but I think it is qca wifi...so might also be a BCM to QCA issue...

post pics of all your wifi settings and I will guide you to a "solution" I hope...

I posted. Size is approximate not sure how to make images exactly 768. Thanks for your help

Do you have any QoS settings enabled?

Does syslog have any error messages?

Could you run dmesg and post output?

Is it only your Pixel, no other devices?

you have a whole bunch of settings wrong on the router...

1. Turn ON airtime fairness for both radios.

2. Set the beacon interval for the 5ghz radio to 101 and the 2.4ghz radio to 191... This ensures 5ghz is always used first unless the signal gets too weak and drops to 2.4ghz

3. Set both radios to use the same SSID: ASUSHOME

4. Set DTIM to 2 on both radios

5. Set RTS threshold to 980 for both radios

6. Preamble = short for both

7. shortslot overide = short for both

8. Turn off bluetooth coexistance for both radios.

9. Turn on WMM support for both radios.

Then report back.

Ok did everything except naming SSID the same
This certainly fixed the problem I had with the PC not connecting to 5GHz (different very annoying issue). Amazing!!!
I will monitor and report on the pixel

Why is it important to have the same SSID on 2.4 and 5?

It helps the device transfer between the two radios/signals much faster by having the wifi SSID be the same; otherwise you add a lot more time for the re-authentication side of things. Also, it uses fewer resources on the router end because it's all part of the same "network;" less overhead and stuff.

Unless it causes a lot of issues for you (which it shouldn't), it's good practice to have the name for both radios be the same. There are cases when you always want your device on 5ghz though...use a virtual interface for that then and name that virtual wifi something else. That's what I do for my own setup.

Thanks
I have another router asus rt n56 on the main floor (ac68u with dd wrt is in the second floor)
I set then all four SSID the same then? I assume the frequency has to be different between both routers, correct?

Yes, all SSID's the same. Choose different channels. Limit power too.

All done. Thanks. So far so good.
I noticed wifi speed / latency on 5GHz is virtually same as Ethernet. Awesome, thanks

@msoengineer
One question, my other router RT N66U on stock firmware should set what I can based on your previous recommendations?

1. Turn ON airtime fairness for both radios. > Setting does not exist
2. Set the beacon interval for the 5ghz radio to 101 and the 2.4ghz radio to 191... This ensures 5ghz is always used first unless the signal gets too weak and drops to 2.4ghz > setting exist and I set it this way
3. Set both radios to use the same SSID: ASUSHOME > Done per earlier posts
4. Set DTIM to 2 on both radios > Done
5. Set RTS threshold to 980 for both radios > Done
6. Preamble = short for both > Done
7. shortslot overide = short for both > No setting
8. Turn off bluetooth coexistance for both radios. > No setting
9. Turn on WMM support for both radios. >WMM settings exist

Thanks!
