Notes:
• CVE-2019-14899 VPN fix (applicability depends on VPN setup) and GUI toggle. 6920, 6928, 6931, 6932 (WIP 7040)
• In-kernel Samba has been implemented this year and default min/max versions have changed 6954, 6957, with WSD support.
• VAP issue is fixed! For any Wireless Mode, create a VAP and both ath0/ath1 should now function properly.
• Local DNS option removed from Services->DNSMasq in changesets 43080 and 43081; ref: #7092
• DHCP and DNS help (English) updated in 43083; ref: #7091
• WireGuard 1.0.20200712: PBR, Kill Switch, Inbound Firewall, Naming of Peers, Status, Key, Guides. Thanks egc!
Issues:
• There may be remaining issues for Samba (for example NTFS), with frequent updates.
Important:
• If reporting issues provide applicable info: 'dmesg', 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages', syslog/serial output, strace etc.
• For firewall issues provide 'iptables -L', 'iptables -t nat -L' and the /tmp/.ipt file.
• Search existing SVN tickets before opening a new one. Before reporting, reset and manually setup (no nvram backup).
• Be sure to include operating and wireless modes (Gateway, AP, CB, etc.) along with relevant configuration information.

Issues:
Devices failed to access internet after modem was reset. Required router reboot.
Router's internet LED remained green even though network cable to modem was disconnected.
LAN port numbers displayed are reversed? Setup > Switch Config... e.g. LAN port 1 of the DIR-878 is displayed as LAN port 4 in dd-wrt.

Can I ask why you keep using the "factory-to-ddwrt.bin" image instead of the one you're supposed to use? The factory one is only meant to be used when you first flash from the stock firmware to dd-wrt, you're then supposed to use the other one, "dlink-dir878-a1-webflash.bin" to update it fully.

Consistency.
Depending on factory firmware that is shipped with/running in a DIR-878/882, some of the past dd-wrt firmware failed to install via GUI, when going from stock/factory firmware to dd-wrt. I have not bothered to check going from stock to dd-wrt with various combinations for a while.
The D-Link Router Recovery Mode paired with factory-to-ddwrt.bin files has worked all the time with functional dd-wrt firmware.

No need to double flash.
If switching for the first time from factory D-Link firmware to dd-wrt, only the factory-to-ddwrt.bin is required.
If the dd-wrt firmware is still running, users can use dlink-dir878-a1-webflash.bin to update via their web browser. Hence "web" in webflash.

I presume @Chade Fallstar's question is why you're not testing webflash upgrades from within DD-WRT, but I could be mistaken. Both methods of upgrading should probably be tested for sanity's sake? _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
