I've been away for a while and I was trying to find a build which works well for R8500, couldn't find a lot of feedback from the more recent release threads.
Could anyone with R8500 chime in on their experience of the recent builds, and what they would recommend to install.
I'm running r43845 (07/18/2020) on my R8500. I had one issue at first with the WiFi not working properly. Once I managed to deal with that issue everything has been fine ever since.
I installed r43845 and the fix, however with the default settings I'm maxing out on my speed tests to around 180/190mbps up/down. Netgear is able to push to 360 up/down.
I'm still in process to find optimized settings. @FDM80 what setting have you setup for basic and advanced wifi?
Or if Anyone else can share there settings which work well for R8500.
I don't alter the Wifi settings much from default other than selecting AC-only on the 5GHz channels. I think you are getting better speeds than me so I don't have any advice for you. My recollection is that reduced top-end speeds is a common complaint when using dd-wrt on this router.

qam1024 is only implemented in wifi AX and very few clients will support it and I would think it would be problematic and might cause issues having that enabled. AFAIK, I recall reading issues with driver implementation of QAM1024 too... I would leave that off.
I would use both beamformings, as well as airtime fairness.

I’ve tried all combinations and the beam forming with this model and my devices they go up to just 20 mbs with iperf3
QAM didn’t pose any issue when enabled.
Empirically speaking, my suggestion is the one that works best with my router r8500, this firmware and my Apple devices. I get 500 mbs + consistently, even in another floor. _________________ Netgear R8500
Thanks for the tip. I was able to get my WiFi speeds to jump from ~120Mbps to ~320Mpbs between my R8500 and my R7000 that is functioning as a wireless bridge.
