Hi,

Since betas have been going on for years and each says "DO NOT flash this beta release unless you understand the risks involved and specific device recovery methods", which standard (ie std) version is considered to be the most 'stable'?

Thanks.

That quote has less to do with the current state, condition or stability of a firmware on a given router model/revision and more about warning the user to be prepared, or knowledgeable enough to have researched the model in advance, to recover in case something goes wrong during the flash process. It's a disclaimer. Stuff happens. Know the TFTP recovery method, or Serial TTL.

If you're worried about flashing a build, read through the build threads as usually someone has reported their experience.

I did a brief search and you should be using no older than r41664 for R6400v2.
Maybe egc will chime in with a build recommendation, as he has this router. I just flash the latest available, live dangerously.

The answer is the next public release. :^)

I am with @kp69 the next public beta is usually fine unless there are showstoppers described in the build thread.

So read the build thread Smile

So is "07-23-2020-r43904" considered the 'public beta'?

There has been 9 release in July alone. Isn't there a more 'stable' fork?

DD-WRT has been in perpetual beta for a very long time. Please don't get hung up on that word, or equate beta with instability.

Though I don't have your router, the hardware R6400v2 uses is similar to R7000 which has been stable for a very long time.

As egc and kp69 said just sit back and wait for the next public build to drop, or use what is currently available.
