I have an AC 68u (previously TMO) with Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r37015M kongac (09/23/1Cool
My pixel 3XL keeps dropping wifi. Randomly. Sometimes hours between drops other times minutes. Many time it has happened in front of the router (no distance related)
Sadly this is a documented issue
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/2084769?hl=en
(plus other forums)
I have gone through two Pixel 2XL and now on Pixel 3XL and wifi drops without apparent reason
I have set the ip for the phone but that has not helped. Somebody recommended disabling ipv6 but this didnt work either.
If somebody has a Pixel has found a good suggestion for router settings, appreciate it (there is not much set on the Pixel itself and also tried the few things you can do).

I do not own this particular router, but I remember having trouble with broadcom based devices of mine during 2018.

Go ahead give an update a try:

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=325950&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

This won't magically solve faulty hardware, but maybe smoothe out those Pixel problems?

Anything particular about this firmware that make it the best next step in relation to the one I have?

2 years of additional developmemt, new drivers, bugfixes, additions etc.
Your firmware was released almost 2 years ago.

Since no one else here mentiones malfunctioning Pixel devices... give it a try Smile

I am always hesitant to try since new firmware with little testing come out. Are there any known big issues w the one you recommend?

According to those reports I'd not be worried about showstoppers.
At Least one user reported your device to be working, albeit WPA2 Enterprise being strange.

Read the thread, build your own opinion about this.
In my opinion it is safe, I cannot update my devices at the moment since not being at home...

[edit I hate this auto correcting tablet]

None of my friends Pixel 3XLs drop and I am on the latest, given it is an atheros is what I am using. We can get 5GHz drop outs, but that was due to interference such as walls

ok, this is a little embarrasing.
It seems that the developer for kongac is no longer maintaining it
I am not sure what to migrate to and already forgot why I got kongac in the first place (I think it was supposed to be more stable)
What is the new recommended branch?
Can I simply flash over kongac and my settings will be preserved?

There is only brainslayer's builds now:

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/

I know this is an atheros thread but still:

I highly recommend resetting the router before updating to the new BS firmware and resetting again after to make sure you don't import any NVRAM gremlins from major changes over the year+ since Kong's last build.

To close this one, I did update to the latest brainslayer. Problem persist and Pixel jumps from 2.4G to 5G and back frequently. So problem not solved (lots of people online having issues with Pixel phones. All generations)
In addition it seems my laptop no longer connects with this router on 5GHz. I have created another post for that.

Post a picture of the basic and advanced settings windows for the wifi radios.

Please make sure to edit the pictures to 768 pixels wide.

The pixel uses Qualcom for the main cpu...can't recall if that also means qca wifi or not, but I think it is qca wifi...so might also be a BCM to QCA issue...

post pics of all your wifi settings and I will guide you to a "solution" I hope...

The Pixel 3XL has a Qualcomm Atheros WCN3990 wave 2 2x2 Radio

Have a Pixel 3XL myself and the WiFi performance is great, one of the best.

But I also have an Atheros router
