Ah ok
Didnt know it was so much difference with VPN on this router directly instead of VPN on Windows-client.
Good to know. Thanx (all) for explaining

You can use an AES-128 cipher or switch to WireGuard to significantly increase the vpn throughput of your router.

Its dead
Updated firmware via web interface

Buffalo WZR-600DHP
Can't get it to boot at all. started update, did a load of dishes and hit continue on web interface and was greeted by page can not be found. Multiple reboots later and multiple attempts to get into firmware recovery and no progress. Time of death 7-13-2020 21:49 pm est/
This router is survived by its predicesor router, a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH.
It lived a good life, providing me and my family with years of service and multiple updates that provided great functionality. Me and my family were grateful it worked without issue while we went to Great Wolf Lodge and were able to remote home to watch all our favorite movies over the openvpn that it supported.

It will be missed ( but i have a ubiquity router on the way which blows this old router out of the water for under 60$ )

Kernel: Linux 4.9.230-rc1 #600 SMP Wed Jul 8 13:37:48 +03 2020 armv7l
Reset: No
Mode: Wireless - Client, Operating - Gateway
Uptime: A few hours
Status: OK
Issues: None. Build number is incorrect. It's 43720 instead of 43718.
Temperature: CPU 54.285 °C

Noticed NAS is working correctly for me, but I haven't pushed it yet. I had previously been struggling to connect in Linux, but Windows 10 connected no problem. In Linux I specified:

mount -t cifs -o vers=3.0,user=myuser,pass=mypass //192.168.1.6/usbkey /mnt/usbkey

In fstab:
//192.168.1.6/usbkey /mnt/usbkey cifs username=myuser,password=mypass,iocharset=utf8,vers=3.0 0 0

what is learned was the mount command could care less about the samba smb.conf specified versions. I also learned vers=3.0 defaults to 3.11. I have the router NAS set to min/max 3.11, encryption required.
