Hi, I have this situation.
There's a free wifi network in my area, that works prety well in my home, except my bedroom.

I had an old WRT54G, so tried to make a repeater with DD-WRT.

It worked fine, I'm connected to the internet.

The problem is that the internet speed is really slow (about a 0.2x of the speed if I connect to the free wifi)

Is there any setting I could look into to make this work better?

(I have tested puting the WRT54G in the best position, with my computer right next to it. Wifi signal is strong, and if I connect to free-wifi it works perfectly, but if I use the repeater, its way slower.)

And It will be as wireless repeater, what ever you try. Old router, low memory, slow processor.
Code:
v 6.0
Broadcom BCM5352 @ 200 MHz
Ram: 8 MB
Flash memory: 2 MB

They are ( wrt54g series ) work mule, as AP, even as wireless clients. But they just choke, and became slow as snails under load.

Use it as wireless client.
