I don't think those buttons have *ever* worked.
Whatever you do, do NOT do a 30-30-30 on your router. Broadcom ARM routers do not need it, and you risk bricking it. I just checked on my R6400 running 43600
I enabled Turning off radio and Turn off Radio at reboot under: Services/SES / AOSS / EZ-SETUP / WPS Button
After about 7 seconds pressing the wifi button the power light blinks red and I can toggle radio's on or off (well the two radio lights go on/off, I did not actually check if the wifi is on/off)

The build I am using is almost standard (well it does not have softehter but it has TCPDUMP )
