I have read a lot (about 2 weeks on how to upgrade). I had a stock v1 E4200.
From what I understood this is what I should do:
Code:
1. Disconnect all cables except one lan, disable wifi
2. reset 30/30/30
3. k2.6 21676 mini (+ reset 30/30/30) [dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e4200.bin]
(wait 5 minutes)
4. k2.6 21676 mega [dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv60k.bin]
(wait 5 minutes)
5. k2.6 35531 mega
(wait 5 minutes)
6. k3.x 35531 mega (+ reset 30/30/30)
(wait 5 minutes)
7. k3.x 42954 mega
(wait 5 minutes)
8. k3.x 43028 mega (+ reset 30/30/30)
(wait 5 minutes)
9. k3.x 43381 mega
(I have been told some of those resets may be unnecessary, but better safe than sorry)
The issue I ran into is I cant get step 4 to work, it refuses to upgrade to 21676 mega. It says its starting upgrade with a 300 second down timer and immediately the page dissapears.
Things I have tried:
-restart + upgrade = FAIL
-reset 30/30/30 + upgrade = FAIL
-lan on port 1 + upgrade = FAIL
-upgrade + 5 minutes wait + reset 30/30/30 = FAIL
I did read some versions have an issue to upgrade, but I don't know if I should try a newer mini or a newer mega.

Did you wait 5-10 minutes after trying step 4 and doing a power cycle to see if the webUI reported 21676 mega? I think when I did serial recovery the first time, initial flash may have been 21061, but I forget.

ALSO, you should be using Firefox ESR, preferably v52 portable to do this. Chrome might not work. Also, the most recent release is 43516.
Thanks! Firefox did it.
I had even downloaded it (FirefoxPortableESR_68.9.0_English.paf.exe), but at some point I forgot to add that information to my "install list".
