Hi,

Has anyone tried to get it working on MT7628A with MT7612E wifi?

I see in the routerlist that MT7620A is supported, and afaik MT7628A is a successor.

OpenWRT is supported for this chip so I think it should be possible.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

On which specific router(s)? There's more to the picture than CPU and wi-fi chip(s).

Hi Thanks for your reply.

I'm considering the below one for a project.
It's not a well known brand unfortunately.

https://zbt.en.alibaba.com/product/60697818677-807122431/Hotsale_long_range_wifi_equipment_19_168_1_1_wifi_max_wireless_router.html?spm=a2700.icbuShop.41413.19.3acf2f98JYSAL7

They do claim it runs OpenWRT though.

Thanks.

The models listed in the video don't even exist anymore it seems: https://www.zbtlink.com/products.html

You would need to do FCC ID search(es) to get detailed information before you could even think about getting any support for any of their hardware.

Thanks, this is new territory for me and I appreciate your input.
I was actually able to search the product on their website here: https://www.zbtlink.com/sale-12594687-indoor-openwrt-ap-wifi-router-for-home-192-168-10-1-linux-firmware-based.html
But yes maybe it's getting phased out, it's still visible on Alibaba though.

And I found the FCC ID: 2AC47-ZBT-WE1326 (this certification includes several models, incl. WE4626)

Again, i appreciate your input. I have asked them also if they can supply it with DD-WRT instead of OpenWRT, so lets see (I'll post result here if anyone is interrested).

The images here show a J4 unpopulated serial header:

Would need to know proper flash layout and a flash dump of bootloader, etc. Also, it looks like there is some kind of expansion card slot of some sort. Not sure exactly if it is mini PCIe or what.

There really isn't a wide range of MediaTek / Ralink device support here, and it's a matter of the developer having devices in hand to add support.

that expansion card slot is 1 Micro TF card slot.

PCIe or USB,not sure,most probably through USB.If there'a sample,teardown,should be clear.

Mediatek shall be noted highly for cheap dual core processor. That's quite important for VPN,NAS,etc.
Vs expensive & hot BCM or expensive Qualcomm.
