After reviewing the documentation for Wlan Repeater as well as Client Mode, I am uncertain of the functional differences between:

A Wlan Repeater (Wireless > Basic Settings > Wireless Mode: Repeater)

A Client Mode (Wireless > Basic Settings > Wireless Mode: Client), with an added Virtual interface (VAP), allowing wireless clients

According to the Linking Routers page:

Quote:

Repeater - A wireless repeater with DHCP & NAT enabled, clients on different subnet from host AP (primary router). Computers connected to one router can not see computers connected to other routers in Windows Network.

Client Mode - Join two wired networks by two Wireless routers (unbridged). Computers on one wired network can not see computers on other wired network in Windows Network.

As far as I can tell, both configurations...
Allow clients to connect to the internet/WAN via a wireless connection to a (host) AP.

Provide a separate subnet for clients.

    Provide DHCP and NAT.

Allow wired as well as wireless client connections (provided a Virtual interface (VAP) with a unique SSID is configured).

What are the functional differences between Client and Repeater Wireless modes?

Welcome to the forum

Things can depend on what router model (architecture) you have.

So read the forum guide lines (link in my signature at the bottom of this post) so that we can help you better.

Per forum guide lines always state router model and build number

My question does NOT relate to any particular router or architecture, but to the dd-wrt functionality difference between two specific wireless modes of dd-wrt, which is in line with forum guidelines, as far as I can determine.

Ok, how about this. It depends on if it's a Broadcom MIPS or ARM, An Atheros/Qualcomm, A Marvell, or a Ralink/MediaTek. Because not all drivers support all wireless modes. If you didn't read far enough to get to this information, keep reading.
