ISP modem devices, cannot ping my own router R7800. I have the router connected by cable to the wan port of the router (lan to wan). Some people say the wan connection(r7800) is blocking incoming traffic. Others say because the router is on another lan segment the modem is not able to reach or find the router. I tried to add some sort off static route on my modem but it seems not possible.

Any suggestions?

Your firewall is blocking incoming connections.

See my attached notes how I do it.

Setting a static route is part of the solution but you also have to open up your firewall.

Note: there is no network discovery/dlna etc. between subnets.

Thank you for helping me out.
I tried to apply your steps.

Somehow i think the problem is within my ISP modem/router which does not run dd-wrt.
First I'm not able to setup a static (wan) ip from my modem or setup a static route.

Applying the firewall inbound rules on my own router do not fix the issue for me.

See my current network draw, Am I missing something?

I would use the R7800 as primary router.

If you cannot set a static route on the ISP router and you keep your setup like it is, the only other thing I can think of is using port forward to reach clients behind router 2

If i would make router to the main router and place the modem in bridge, that means I will not be able to connect any devices to the modem lan in my living room. Otherwise that would be the best solution.

I can access the routers 2 interface by using the wan ip. Which is not the solution. Turned both firewall off from my modem and router 2 no succes.

I think it is time to contact my ISP.
The modem(router1) should at least be able to setup static ip and static route.

I've contacted my isp, they will send me a new modem (With more setup options). Hopefully this will fix the problem.
Thanks again for helping me out.
