Hi.
I wonder why the kernel is updating pretty often on open wrt, 4.9, 5,.... 5.4.41, 42 and now kernel 5.4.43 but with dd wrt is still 4.14, if I understand well?
Thanks |

hmmm i guess the reason is related to the complexity of the new kernels, networks stack and ect., OpenWRT is a public project with a lot of developers, while DDWRT is not very much like that...
i remember the good old days of Kong's(DDWRT) 3.18 works, things ware rock solid...
also some devices that do not do that much complex work will not benefit of the new kernels, new kernels are not always better...for routers...but as tatsuya46 noted on a paid enterprise stuff, especially when you need a security/stability and have resources, new kernels may provide more benefit, if they make them work buggy/kernel-panic free... _________________ Atheros
