I have wireguard installed on my router. I want to test the internet broadband speed online. On visiting various sites, the speed cannot be measured because the sites are :trying to find the optimal server, which they have not, hence they cannot ping me.
How do I solve this.

speedtest.net (ookla) and also iperf are working with wireguard.
When I assign my wireguard Router as gateway, the connected device is able to test speed.
When I start up the wireguard app on android devices of mine, also no problem.

Follow tatsuya46's MTU advice.

I can use speedtest.net and DSLReports.com without a problem connected to KeepSolid Engeland

First make sure you are connected and use ipleak.net or the likes to see if you have the IP addres of the keepsolid server.

I can think of three problems, if you are using PBR than your DNS goes out via the WAN (there is a trick for that)
MTU problems are possible but then you would notice very slow loading or stuttering, see the guide under troubleshooting.
But the most likely it is a browser problem, Firefox and probably Chrome are starting to use DNS over https with Cloudfare? as DNS provider so check that or try another browser

Speed is mostly 2-3 times the speed of OpenVPN

Along with the above and changing the MTU to 1431, I was able to get the download speed from wireguard that I am paying for from my isp. That is great when compared to openvpn client which give me a max of a third.
Caveat; when comparing speed, wireguard used my isp server but openvpn client gives a server closest to your assigned ip address. How does this compare; it looks you are comparing apples with oranges.

What is your take on this? Is there really a material difference in speed between the two or are you being hood-winked?

Further research revealed the download speed of wireguard can be twice as fast as openvpn.
