I've had 2 Cisco/Linksys E3000 routers, both running DDWRT in the past.
I hadn't used them in quite a while because, if memory serves me, they both started booting with just the power LED flashing fast and the LAN port flashing (if I plug it into my laptop).
My guess is I probably flashed a newer nv60k build that failed, because both E3000's WERE running DDWRT fine for a few years prior. Both AC adapters read a good 12VDC.
I want to use these as repeater/bridges for family in Los Angeles on COVID lockdown.🙄
I cannot log into either E3000 router via webgui, but CAN ping them upon initial power up. (TTL of 100)
What I've tried Unsuccessfully:
(Windows10 Firewall is OFF, WiFi is OFF, eth0 is static 192.168.1.9/255.255.255.0/GW/DNS 192.168.1.1, and TFTP2 is running as Admin. I've tried Window's built-in TFTP unsuccessfully.)
1. 30/30/30 reset
2. TFTP2(right after power up) the "dd-wrt.v24-18688_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e3000.bin" file; flashes successful, and can continuously ping router (TTL of 100), but still cannot get into webgui and telnet fails. (After power cycle, can no longer ping.)
3. TFTP2(right after power up) the "dd-wrt.v24-40559_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e3000.bin" file; flashes successful, and can continuously ping router (TTL of 100), but still cannot get into webgui and telnet fails. (After power cycle, can no longer ping.)
4. TFTP2(right after power up) the OEM "E3000_1.0.04.006_US_20101200.bin" file; flash Fails and tries again...
5. TFTP2(right after power up) the OEM "E3000_1.0.06.002_US_20140409_code.bin" file; flash Fails and tries again...
6. TFTP2(right after power up) the "dd-wrt.v24-23204_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv60k.bin" file; flash Fails and tries again...
7. TFTP2(right after power up) the "dd-wrt.v24-23204_micro_generic.bin" file; flashes successful, and can continuously ping router (TTL of 100), but still cannot get into webgui and telnet fails. (After power cycle, can no longer ping.)
Tried these too:
dd-wrt.v24-14929_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_usb_ftp-e3000_Initial_Build.bin ; Flash Begins, then Stalls/Fails around 75% and tries again...
After reading TONS of E3000 posts and the Wiki, I'm at a loss, and I do Not have a serial cable to recover.
It's almost as if it ONLY flashes the Micro files at this point...
Is my only a recovery option via a serial cable? _________________ (WRT54G V6.00 "neutered" with

The answer to your last question: Probably.
These routers do NOT use the K2.4 builds out of the broadcom folder (i.e. micro_generic) AFAIK. Initial flash is a K2.6 mini trailed build with E3000 in the filename. Everything is pretty clear (as mud?) in the wiki...

Thanks for the reply and links.
Just wish these E3000's were easier to flash because I always got great wifi speed with these, unlike many other models running DDWRT...😕
I wonder if a different TFTP prog. with timing tweaks would work...? _________________ (WRT54G V6.00 "neutered" with

Speaking of which, I just bought an e3000 just to put dd-wrt on it. The instructions for a noob are indeed a bit like mud. I go off piste after "E3000 Initial Flash Trailed Build". I want to end up with "dd-wrt.v24-40559_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv60k", but I am not sure if I can go directly there (it seems not) post initial build or I have to flash and second firmware in between. I assume r14929 of the initial flash is aka svn14929 ?
This is what I confuses me
"To flash an nv60k build (that replaces e2k-e3k), you must flash a trailed E3000 build from svn16773 or later before nv60k. Do not flash directly from e2k-e3k to nv60k!"
It seems the initial flash is < svn16773, so I need to flash something > svn16773 before nv60k. I can't figure out where to get this build I need. Can I get a lifeline before I brick out of the gate ?
Thanks
Nor did you even bother looking at the disclaimer on the router database landing page:

Feel free to ban me. I went to the 'download/betas' location and thought, I'd want a release, not a beta. I went into every subdir looking for e3000 and found nothing. So f'me for thinking wrongly and misbehaving.

I just wanted to add my 2cents to the discussion.
I just finished de-bricking my E3000 and I had to perform two fixes to achieve success.
1) There was a bad capacitor - 470mfd 10v (position CP52, if I'm reading the board correctly)
2) The shorted 8-9 pins on the flash memory was also required. (Not sure 8-9 is the proper description, best to look for a picture of the pins to short).
The full story:
The E3000 had the blinking power LED indicating corrupt memory so I attempted to flash with TFTP - many times. Always timed out. Decided to replace the capacitor. No joy. Shorted the pins - JOY, stock FW loaded up fine! But the capacitor was too big to fit into the case.... Swapped old capacitor BACK in the case. No Joy. Using long leads and laying the capacitor on its side, new capacitor fit in the case. JOY, JOY....
I know this is an old thread but maybe my findings will help another router DIY guy...
