I'm using a Linksys WRT32X with dd-wrt and vpn enabled. I'm on 300Mbps connection from my isp and i get approx 100Mbps DL 42 UL with the vpn connected. This router is decent but i'm wondering if other people get higher speeds.. In my experience it's down to how powerful the router is. With my old router i was getting about 40Mbps DL... what speed do you currently get through openvpn with dd-wrt and what router are you using?

R6400v2 (dual core Arm A9 1 GHz) 35 MB/s
R7800 Dual core Arm A15 (Krait) 1,7 Ghz) 85 Mb/s

R9000 is much faster.

If you want fast have a look at WireGuard, R7800 270 Mb/s
wireGuard speed is 2,5-3 times OpenVPN speed

WireGuard guides see my signature at the bottom of this post

well...just to add to egc post
server nearby used /capable off, as well encryption used and general settings/options also play role in speed race...some are better than other..
but generally speaking those are the real speeds egc mentioned...

just to clarify, my original post wasn't asking how do i get a faster speed, i already know about wireguard and have tested it using nordlynx outside of dd-wrt and got close to full speed that my isp provides, i was just wondering how far openvpn can be pushed through a router... so i wondered what speeds you guys have seen as i'm sure you use dd-wrt in a 24 hour online setup like i do. I'm aware of the variables that can exist.

For information. Netgear R9000 with NordVPN UDP. 120-140Mbit/s, max 150 Mbit/s on 500 Mbit/s wire.

Message from yesterday from NordVPN about NordLynx: Hello, Robert! Unfortunately, we do not provide our customers with the Wireguard configuration files yet.
