Thanks blkt I missed your fallback builds 1st time around.

I will try 42054 and see how it goes.

It there a suggested wifi access point device that is known to work?

Are you using DD-WRT on it as well?

Thanks

User lim on the first page uses Ubiquiti Unifi AP AC LR (long range).

Do you use IoT, smart devices, home automation, thermostat, doorbell and so on? These are the kind of devices that put Marvell radios through a loop.

User WENED has to disable WMM on 2.4 radio (ath1) and found G-Only to be the only stable wireless network mode for his sonoff (esp8266) devices.

As always, YMMV with this router's internal radios and I'm not sure which build or configuration is best for your environment.

I am trying the settings you mentioned.

I had WMM enabled
Network Mode as NG-Mixed

Besides cell phones, laptops, and PC's I have Roku's, xbox one, and WDTV Live, and a raspberry pi.

For several years I used my WRT1900ACv1 as my main router.
I also used it as a VPN client, so that everything (wifi and ethernet) in the house was under the VPN.
For over a year it sat on r31924 as all later builds were unstable on v1.
Eventually I bought an EA8500 and relegated the WRT1900v1 to AP duties.
Once DD-WRT finally fixed the v1 issues I have run both routers with the latest builds.
Most of the v1 builds have been ok for use as a switch and AP - currently both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi are running ok.
I do remember that I had done a full reset and setup from scratch a couple of years ago after a bad build (too large) had bricked the v1.
I don't know why the v1 would have issues on the current build - mine seems quite stable, but I don't ask too much of it these days; the EA8500 does the heavy lifting.
Maybe a factory reset and manual setup of the WRT1900v1 on the latest r42926 would be worthwhile - it's still a capable router.
