I am leaving this up in case someone else sees it but the issue was Firefox. Soon as I finished posting, I used a different browser and everything works fine.

I'm still curious why I could not connect using SSH/Putty but presume because I was not using the correct username/password. I had tried the defaults that I found in this thread (root and password) but that didn't seem to work with Putty.

Experienced programmer but weak in networking.

Issue: I successfully installed FW_WRT32X_1.0.666_DDWRT.img using the Factory GUI, and the installation apparently competed properly with reset. But now the login page is a grey screen with no fields to input (user/pass). The router responds to pings, and SSH attempts respond with "connection refused."

Question: I understand there are two partitions so the original factory partition (no longer active) is still there. I have the factory bin to reinstall to return my router to original and start over, but cannot seem to access the router as Putty and WinSCP both say connection refused. So I don't know how to get the original factory image on (or switch which partition the router is using back to the factory).

What I did.

* Read this thread (multiple times and other sites as well for user experience)

* Opted to just do the minimalist first (the less than 1/2 size img file) and see how it goes (rather than use two partitions to maintain the factory)

* Went into the factory GUI under the Admin tab and installed FW_WRT32X_1.0.666_DDWRT.img as the new firmware.

* Router checked it and came back with "install" button

* Pressed install and took a few minutes and then I believe the router mentioned install complete (I know it said install almost complete at one point) and then the router rebooted

* Once rebooted, I went into 192.168.1.1 via a browser and I get a grey screen.

The router responds to pings. It rejects SSH attempts. It "looks" good as per the LED lights, but I cannot administer it.

Suggestions for a next step, please?

Hi all.

I have just flashed DD-WRT on my WRT32X and all went well.

I went to wireless security and used WPA2 Personal.
Input my password.

But now my phone won't connect to the wireless 2.4\5GH.

I reset the router and with no wireless security. My phone connected.
So again I turned on WPA then clicked WPA2 Personal.

Put in a very easy key\password, but still I can not connect.

What can I do?
Thank you for your time.

If you flashed 40559, and used the router database, that was your first mistake. Research this sub-forum for known good builds.

I followed this thread.
Yes it was 40559 version. If that version is no good.
Then why post it?

Thank you very much.

I will try them out now.

Is it ok to flash the 2019 img version and if all goes well, flash the 2020 bin file?

Thank you again.

EDIT= ubootenv get boot_part does not work on my wrt32x.
fw_printenv boot_part does. But I can't find out what to put to change partions

There have been many changes since 12-29-2019.

I would say for a basic configuration you will have no problems upgrading from r41813 to r42335 while keeping the same config.

If you decide to configure Samba, OpenVPN, WireGuard or in general have an advanced configuration before the upgrade to 02-10-2020 please expect issues until you reconfigure some things (possibly a hard reset or "nvram erase && reboot" in order to start over fresh).

"ubootenv get boot_part" is a dd-wrt command.

"fw_printenv boot_part" is a stock venom linksys firmware command (openwrt).

You need to do some more reading. Here are some of the main helpful threads (there are others).

I wrote a lot on page 2 of the WRT32X DD-WRT Installation Procedure thread (this one lol).

Apparently you do not understand how this firmware project works and the release cycle and why builds are posted and why some of them wind up being bad. But that's okay. Tacking onto a thread that wasn't meant for you to ask the question you initially asked is just as productive. This forum has threads that are approaching 200 pages because of this. But I digress.

Hi Guys, I've been reading this post and I wonder how is the upgrade procedure if I have installed the 40559 release and want to move to one of these:

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2020/02-10-2020-r42335/linksys-wrt32x/

what file should I use the same webflash? or do I need to install the firmware first, I'm really newby on this firmware.

Thanks

Try disabling ath2 under Wireless -> Basic Settings -> Wireless Physical Interface ath2 -> Wireless Network Mode dropdown as it's meant to receive only for DFS detection and has no external antennas.

Recent builds may have intermittent startup issues, so you may just need to reboot a few times until it works.

You can also try going to the wireless basic settings menu and simply clicking save then apply.

Set channels manually (don't use auto). Don't check TKIP under Wireless Security, only WPA2 Personal and CCMP-128 AES.

If you have any IoT or smart devices, cameras, doorbells etc try disabling WMM within the 2.4 interface's Advanced Settings.

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2020/02-10-2020-r42335/linksys-wrt32x/

My question here is do I only need to install the webflash file?, or in which order show I upgrade the Firmware

Thanks, I'm really newby on this

I already replied to the thread you created.

Don't flash WRT32X firmware on WRT3200ACM nor vice versa as the u-boot, environment and flash layout are different.

This thread is only for WRT32X installation.
