I have a WHR-G54S and WZR-RS-G54 that I would like to use in my home network as client bridges.

According to the Peacock thread Brainslayer 08-12-10-r14929 is the recommended build for these devices.

This build works fine on both devices but isn't up to date with regards to security fixes.

Having read this https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/KRACK_Vulnerability_and_DD-WRT it seems that 11-16-2017-r33772 or later is required to address this vulnerability.

Can I safely use r33772 on these routers?

What about even more recent builds e.g. 03-05-2020-r42617 or later?

I realise dd-wrt is mostly untested betas but it's hard to tell from https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ which build will work with a particular router.

You'd at least want builds w/ the rekey fix (in r41662). Start with 42617, though 42681 should be fine on k2.4 builds, nobody has reported on it yet (and k4.4 builds are getting a new irqbalance warning).

Thank you gentlemen. I have flashed the WZR-RS-G54 with r42617 dd-wrt.v24_mega_generic.bin and all seems good configured as a client bridge. Nothing untoward reported by syslog.

Will try the WHR-G54S with r42617 and report back.

Good to hear. Smile Btw, you can also report this in the applicable build thread.

And note; if you haven't read the FAQ, etc...Client Bridge is not recommended for more than a single client. If you have issues, use WDS or Client Mode instead, if possible.

Done. Will keep an eye out for bugs and edit my post.

Need one network for Airprint (mDNS multicast). Can't use WDS; primary router is different chipset.

This is a good reference

Many thanks for your help.
