Hi guys,
I have recently got a second hand EA6900 router because i need some changes done to my home network.
However, this router seem to have problem with the power supply - it restarts constantly.
I have opened it up and found out that on the board, right after the power plug, there is a part missing (probably the router fel some time ago, somewhere in a galaxy far far away). I guess it is either a diode or a capacitor of some sort but I am not entierly sure.
I can solder this part, however I cannot seem to find information on what it is, or pictures with good enough quality so that I can read the part number.
It is that small black part after the power plug (image in google drive):

Can anyone help me or post me some good quality picture of the letters on that part?
Initially I thought so as well, as it is connected to ground and voltage, however, where there are capacitors on the board, their designations start with C{numbers}, while this one is named D9... may be it was some sort of diode... not sure :S.
I've found out that two of the ports do not work (1 and 3) and i guess this router suffered a lightning strike or quite the fall... so may be it is beyond repair

Or diode*, forgot about those on input circuit to prevent reverse-current. Sounds like the lacking component created more havoc than initially known. Wonder if you can RMA it or if it's even worth it. I would have to have it in-house to go component by component to see what broke. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

I am having some issues with a EA6900 myself. Happened to have it opened on my desk and got that photo of the item you are trying to identify.
So, it's a resistor. No telling what the value is, though.
You guess right at 1st time, It´s a diode. 1st clue D9 over the PCB, 2 clue: Z16, zener diode , value ? Pretty sure it a zener diode used as regulator. 3 clue, can´t be a resistor, the white stripe close to the white rectangular mark, is an indicator for polarity, orientation, resistor don´t have polarity.
