Hi everyone,

I want to update/-grade my current R7000P kong build (Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r36070M kongac (05/31/18 )).

I've configured an OpenVPN server.

Problem: dd-wrt states that kong stopped developement (LINK 1).

Alternatives:
(1) The kong repository is no longer available. But I can access a mirror of a Jul 2019 buidl here (LINK 2).
(2) Or via the official dd-wrt data base an August 2019 build (LINK 3, LINK 4).
(3) But there also seems to be further slayer (or is it?) development with very regular updates (LINK 5).

Question:
I'd like to flash the bin from option (3/ LINK 5). Can I just update it via my current dd-wrt update interface or do I have to completely reset and reconfigure (with what version?)?

If I need to reset, can I reset and reupload my current kong settings?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers

I am still running Kong 40270M kongac on mine (Link 2), but if you feel you must update to something else, then Link 5. Reset not necessarily required unless something goes awry... and restoring older build settings probably won't work if you do because of changes in how nvram backups are done.

Thanks for the input, kernel.

Well, currently my r7000p is working fine. But I think the new builds also have some security fixes. And that's more or less all I care about with this update.
