EA8500 CLI upgrade from 02-10-2020-r42335 to 02-20-2020-r42460 with no issues.

A reboot wasn't good enough this time as the router was not responsive.

I waited 10 minutes, power switch off to wait 30 seconds then back on and everything's fine.

Netgear R7800 WDS AP
DD-WRT v3.0-r42460 std (02/20/20)
Linux 4.9.214 #519 SMP Sat Feb 15 05:17:49 +03 2020 armv7l
GUI upgrade over last
All working
Observations:
Correct extension channels only are selectable. (The ones I checked)
Only 1 instance to select regulatory domain.
Allow Channel Overlapping
ProFTPD opened /opt ext 3 correctly at 42440. I saw no commitment pertaining. Not at 42460. Must be HDD related.
GUI seems so far supercharged Smile
^^@Bernadoe shows pretty impressive vpn speeds

Bummer, no more working 80mhz 161 + 159 channel on the R7800.

For anyone else who enjoyed this non-standard, yet seemingly FCC-legal, 802.11ac functionality for a noticeable bandwidth gain in highly congested 5ghz areas, you'll want to go back to r42335.

Did you test it with a capable device and are able to get 200+ mbps?

Are you using Germany or Germany_bfwa for your regulatory domain? Maybe that's the key factor, as long as the signal strength is still appropriate.

On the United States regulatory domain on r42460, "LU (-2)" is not available to me; on r42366, "LU (-2)" is available and shows that it's working from within the DD-WRT gui, but tests from a device proves otherwise.

Regulatory Domain Germany

I get 866mbit with my tolerant 2x2 mimo clients
if devices only connect with 20mhz then they have a problem with the wrong HT40 extension channel

btw.. you need to activate "allow channel overlapping" and save and apply..

SSH update, no issues, no restart.
5GHz radio took a little longer (about 1 minute) to start than the rest of the router.

All functions working.

Speedtest reports 12ms ping, 486.16Mbps down and 38.17Mbps up

r7800 cpu usage for sirq on wifi radios is still broken and over 3x higher than kong builds and BS k3.18 builds.. and all cpu usage in general. k3.18 was flawless and could even use ondemand min 384mhz with zero issue, and wifi interrupts use less than half the cpu. been saying this for years, only kong fixed this with kernel 4.

kong r40720m firewall/qos/nat disabled, 5ghz sirq cpu load @ 320mbps:

core0: 15%
core1: 3%

ANY k4.x bs build firewall/qos/nat disabled, 5ghz sirq cpu load @ 320mbps:

core0: 60%
core1: 40%

many routers have disabled/broken hostapd syslog output. if the offloading was reenabled for ipq806x, its not working, there is no difference to poor cpu performance in everything.

Thanks for the tips, unfortunately my Pixel 4 won't speedtest any higher than 130mbps (I'm pretty sure that's just one 20mhz channel, right?) on 161+159 80mhz on r42460 with US/Germany set and overlapping channels enabled.

I did an nvram erase (not because I wanted to) because some pretty drastic wifi changes must've been made, because I've never bricked my router in the ~10 years of using DD-WRT...until today. The last nvram erase (and erase nvram, per kong mentioning that one wipes the partition and I was coming from an old kong build) I did was in January, and this is purely an AP with nothing else running, no routing, no dhcp forwarding.

If I'm remembering correctly, I went from 42335 to 42460 to 42410 to 42366 to 42335 to 42460 which was a brick. No GUI, no SSH, no Telnet, could ping it, and on each reboot only one (if any) wifi radio would show up when scanning with my phone. Doing a reset on the back of the router made SSIDs show as dd-wrt, but still no GUI, no SSH, no Telnet, could ping it, and still only one wifi radio (if any) would be on, and it wasn't consistent if it would be 5ghz or 2.4ghz working. After much trial and error, tftp worked for me. It didn't flash the set .bin file though, which was odd. But at least I got GUI access, did nvram erase and flashed the old .bin back on.

Anyway, at least with the Pixel 4, r42460 and an 80mhz 161 + 159 does not work for me. It functions the same as if I set 165 + 159 now on r42335--it shows up in the DD-WRT gui and shows up on my phone as such, but speed tests don't hit the 480mbps my connection is capable of. If others are able to get 200+ mbps speed tests on r42460 161+159, then it's obviously an incompatibility between my pixel 4 and ddwrt.
