In the past, I have been able to connect to my router's OpenVPN server service with my iPhone, and then remotely connect to a PC on my home network via a VNC server running on it by using the internal network address (192.168.x.x). I did not have port-forwarding turned on for this to work.

Following a recent update to a newer build of DD-WRT, I can no longer do this. I have to enable port forwarding in order to connect.

Any pointers for how I might change a setting to allow the connection method I originally was able to use? Nothing in the settings is leaping out at me, unfortunately.

Thank you in advance for any pointers to consider!

Read the Openvpn server setup guide in my signature.
Especially the chapter about the CVE 14899 Patch.
That is the culprit

Thanks egc!

I will try the firewall rule outlined in your guide.

The entry I have had in there until now was: iptables -t nat -I POSTROUTING -o $(nvram get wan_iface) -j MASQUERADE
