Flash was successful but it changed the wifi bandwidth from VHT160 to VHT80 with a corresponding bit rate reduction - almost cut in half. Still have an issue with firewall logging that I can't turn off. Rolled back to r42335 but still can't turn off firewall logging but the channel width went back to VHT160.

You mean there is no option to select VHT160?

I could be wrong, but from some reading on here and openWRT it my be that QOS doesn't work the way I thought it did.

That is a client can make a request for a large video from say youtube and you tube will send it down at full normal speed. The bandwidth restriction doesn't start until the feed gets to the router. The gross affect is the total bandwidth to your house/router is still being used and the QOS just restricts the amount of bandwidth from the router to the client. The net affect is other clients cannot pull at full speed from the internet because it is clogged with the youtube request.

If I am wrong on this assumption maybe someone can clear it up.

Im pretty new to DDWRT but bandwidth is bandwidth and the only thing a router can do is priority for packets. For example i have my QoS setup to give the lowest prio to the bittorrent clients we are using and higher prio to IPTVs and some applications. The result for me is whoever is downloading something the rest of the network can watch TV/Youtube normally and game without the bufferbloat resulting of not using Packet Scheduler.

There is an option in wireless settings. It was already set for VHT160. I confirmed that it was still set for VHT160 after the flash. For some reason the firmware reduced it to VHT80. Rolling back to the previous firmware corrected the "problem".

I flashed a WRT3200ACM WDS station and a Netgear R7800 WDS station. The bandwidth changed to VHT80 while the other 2 WRT3200ACM WDS stations (running the previous firmware) stayed at VHT160. I haven't flashed the WRT3200ACM WDS AP yet and it is set at VHT160. From what I've found, the stations follow the bandwidth setting of the AP regardless of what the station setting is. All stations were set for VHT160 in their wireless settings anyway. Rolling back to the previous firmware corrected this. The WRT1900ACSv1 can be set for VHT80 only so it didn't matter for that router.

This is why it would be awesome if everyone got on board with standardizing the build threads and reports, but people don't seem willing to do it. Ho-hum.

@johnnyNobody999

The 5 GHz channels have been revised so it would probably make sense to flash the WDS AP too and then check the channel settings and connectionrates again. Question
