r7800 latency is on par with kong builds, but the cpu usage for sirq on wifi interfaces is still broken and over 3x higher than kong builds and BS k3.18 builds..
kong r40720m firewall/qos/nat disabled, 5ghz sirq cpu load @ 320mbps:
core0: 15%
core1: 3%
ANY k4.x bs build firewall/qos/nat disabled, 5ghz sirq cpu load @ 320mbps:
core0: 60%
core1: 40%
if the r7800 was doing nat+qos, it still would be choking at these speeds from not enough cpu free.. keep the latency the same and fix the cpu usage, this will be finally 100% fixed for the first time..
still forced disabled/broken hostapd syslog output even when enabled.. (assuming its intentionally removed) _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

all seems good:
staic DHCP leases
Local DNS
ath0 ath0.1 ath1
VLAN
unbound
ovpn server
JFFS2
samba
all worky ok --- HOWEVER, the one thing that still pisses me:
Since previous build only had SMB 2, I change it to SMB 3.11 and made encryption required all in the webif.
When I clicked 'Save' and then 'Apply Settings' ...waited at least 1.5 ~ 2 minutes but port forwards never came back so that caused
lost to webserver and other router's ovpn servers from the WAN. A SIMPLE REBOOT FIXED EVERYHING so guess it ain't really a big deal.
I don't tinker with main router anyways as long its running ok.
AND
only drive I have in her these days as samba share is just a 128 MB flash drive I use for very few things.
But that will likely change once I see all is good for a week or so.

One note, QoS with HFSC & Cake limits download speeds to 200Mbps.

I hit the 240/12 over provisioned just fine on comcast on my R9000. Are you sure your settings are proper?
I do know that at one point cake was limited to 200-250mbps (Maybe still on DD). Kong figured out a way to get it to 600 on his private OpenWRT.

I don't know if BS followed any of his changes to make Cake hit 600mbps. The sad news is that Kong never built a R9000 OpenWRT build to test. If anyone has his email, please PM me. I would like to reach out to him and ask, and maybe donate him some beer...
I believe the above is why BS made FQ_Codel_Fast... _________________ FORUM RULES

I do not know if my settings are right, I wonder if there is a setting that will cap my download speeds. I'll experiment with other disciplines.
...as for the wallet, Comcast is competing with FiOS in my area and I was able to take advantage of a little good ol' competition. _________________ Netgear R9000

htb + pie is easiest on the cpu. as for latency for YOUR line (+ services port priorities), that varies. bs didnt make fq_codel_fast, he just added it. its hardly any faster (or slower)..to me it appears to function like a "poor man's cake".
hfsc is pretty much still crap starting at 180-220mbps depending on unit and queuing setting, it too, has a cpu load issue.. seems only x86 can run it fine by shoving cpu power at it. but even there htb is still better.

In my countless hours spent tweaking QOS...
Wifi 5 (wave 1 & 2)
R7800 and better (R9000, EA8500, etc)
HFSC + FQ_Fast seem to work best and not overload CPU
(R9000 has two extra cores so Cake should work better than R7800 & EA8500)
On builds before BS did all his tweaking fall of 2019 HTB was better than HFSC (Especially Kong builds). HFSC seems to produce better results on my slower 240/12.
I am sure on faster, HFSC will reveal its latency woes/issues more clearly.
Wifi 4 and older routers:
HTB+PIE IS BEST - consumes the least resources (CPU/MEM)
HTB+FQ_Codel is ok too, but may eat all your cpu on >100mbps connections. Don't bother with anything else on older single core CPU routers. _________________ FORUM RULES

its working according to your log. it was not stopped. it was restarted on wan change or manual config change according to your log
you see clearly in the log that it was intentionally stopped and then started again. the vpn modules unload / load normally only happens on wan up / wan down. everything looks normal. the missing user database is no error, you have no created any samba users. so its empty and will be ignored _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? Been following ksmbd develop since 42103 using WNDR3700V4, the chosen one it seems.
All builds since including this one:
Samba Enabled - Stopped
Kubuntu 19.04 using default Dolphin file manager trying to access shares, open, cp files or folders, causes router to reboot.
Krusader file manager works with Min/Max Protocol Version SMB 3 encryption=required.
Tried 42129 on Win10 box yesterday first time and working ok.
All this applies to R7800 using todays 42132 also.
Both routers:
ProFTPD does not open ext2 /opt and /jffs or NTFS partition folders on flash drive correctly but does open FAT 32 partition/folders/files.
