Ok- Router loves to crash whenever I try uploading the DD-WRT firmware (named below). I'm not sure how to proceed now. I've successfully used this firmware to get my 2nd router (exact some model) going so the firmware should be fine. I am also surprised that the LAN (via ethernet) on my computer still shows a name ("house") for the factory-reset router.....why?

Thanks for the help

WNDR4500-V1.0.1.46_1.0.76.chk (file name)

You have serial connected right? Did you run `nvram erase` from the CFE prompt? Anything in the boot log? Failed NAND?

I don't have the serial connected now.

Plugged into a LAN port running stock netgear firmware. Anywhere I can do diagnostics without opening back up? Now I've discovered that when crashing, it takes a few attempts but I can get it to come back by using the cmd prompt and pushing the netgear firmware.

Which version of DD-WRT are you trying to push? The filename you gave in the OP seems to be a stock Netgear version.

Are you sure that's a good build at all for that router?

Yes...It's running perfectly on a second, identical router right now on my bench. Further, that's the firmware that is on this website when you type in the WNDR4500v1

(dd-wrt.v24-40559_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-WNDR4500.chk)

https://dd-wrt.com/support/router-database/?model=WNDR4500_v1

I just tried uploading it again and bricked the router. However, I'm able to successfully recover to the Netgear firmware using NMRPFlash

I've noted that trying to install DD-WRT via NMRPFlash won't work either- the netgear firmware is the only thing I can successfully flash....
