Trying to establish a guest network (before then heading to create an IOT network for wireless and wired devices). Getting bogged down at the real basics.
I set up the username and password and also enabled USB service and USB printer. All else left as default. Worked OK.
I then set up the 2.4g and 5g radios as SSID: xxx.net and SSID: 5g.xxx.net. Worked ok.
Before I added WPA2 security to my primary SSIDs, I added a VAP on the 2.4Ghz radio with SSID guest.xxx.net. This didn’t work ok.
When I connect to the APs, I can connect to the xxx.net and 5g.xxx.net but when I connect to guest.xxx.net, it connects but gets "no internet, Open" in Win10. IPCONFIG reveals I have no IP address assigned.
I tried rebooting the device and waiting, no joy.
As I said, this is really basic, not doing anything super special here (that is to come). I have not even begun the separate bridging.
Is there a guide on how to do this? I have been doing the changes step by step and applying them one by one.
Is this your gateway router? Also, you should update to 41686.

There are a few guides, and a few ways to do it. I use the dnsmasq method, unbridged. Note that if you want to have the guest acct bridged, you'll need a startup command workaround. See the build threads for my release notes. _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#

I was having this issue for months on my r7000 until i switched to the latest beta r41664. I used the DNSMasq method and it worked instantly. _________________ Netgear R7000 v1 running DD-WRT build r41664
