Hello,

I have a R6400 running DD-WRT Build 38580 Kong.

I want to reset and update it to the latest version but as Kong as left to OpenWRT, I cannot flash Kong's build.

To update to BrainSlayer's builds, can I directly flash the latest BrainSlayer build from the WebUI or should I go back to the stock firmware first and then back to DD-WRT?

You can flash through the webUI just fine. You can still upgrade to a newer or the last Kong build as CloneVince's server is still up: http://ddwrt-kong.clonevince.fr/

Thank you.
But I think I will give BrainSlayer's builds a try.

I flashed Kong's build on the R6400 and R7000 and saw a WiFi signal strength drop of 30% on both the routers.

So I am going to give BrainSlayer's builds a try.

Kong was using the same binary driver blobs that BrainSlayer publishes, afaik. I don't know if other pieces and parts were patched other than what I saw in more recent commits in the past .... couple months or so, but. Not sure if anything has been improved all that much in builds newer than 40270M kongac. It seems to be doing fairly well on my R7000P, haven't felt the need to upgrade to a more recent BS build yet.

I see, thanks.

I don't think the minute additions made in Kong's build are going to affect an end user like me, so I guess I will go with BrainSlayer's builds just because the sake of saying that they are newer.

Thank you for your help.

Kong's last build, still rules out for Netgear R series routers...40270! look for it...!!!
While BS builds are more updated...kind of....
so far stability is not guaranteed its in development and fine bias...

yes you can flash the bs build that you choose in the gui

afterwards it's a good idea to reset via command line and manually reenter your setup

i believe putty is prefered for best practices but i use the command prompt in windows 10.

telnet 192.168.1.1
for user name use root
your password
nvram erase && reboot

watch the build threads to see if someone posts about your router to see their experience. you can watch the commits to see if something is undergoing changes.

Thank you for the tip, appreciate it. I will be flashing tomorrow. Smile
