The R7800 is currently the most recommended router in these forums, because it is well supported and has the best performance / price ratio.

Cheers.

Saw quite a few customer reviews on Amazon complaint about the radios and generally not working.

It only reached this status thanks to Kong, who is no longer here. Plenty of people still running his last build and not upgrading to BS builds because they want something that just plain works. Yep, I am cruising for a good bitching at, but oh well.

true so true, but than again, some forum members are flawlessly running last BS builds on it with no complain...R7800 is a great unit...

Me..., I'm too lazy to move away from last Kong's build, still hoping for something decent like, but soon..very soon...
as i have a 2nd R7800 in hand may experiment and fiddle with the core affinities to make it like Kong

If have a 2nd one and you're going to experiment, just go ahead and tinker with Kong's OpenWRT. You may find you like it. The only other option I've found is Voxel for folks who like the stock Netgear interface with a few added goodies.
