bushant,
goshdarn ....although the ol acetylene torch & coat hanger (preferably a sharpened welding rod) works for lots of stuff ---- I ain't never tried it on a router
cut paper clips stuck in the USB/TTL cable, inserted in the serial header holes and taped to hold in place has always worked well for me
2 days ago I had to again fix the bricked E1200v2 and it still worked just fine

OHH if only there had been holes.
Maybe should have used stainless welding rod, they stay red longer.
I was wrong. I butchered the TX and got solder all over that chip and those pins. Had a helluva time getting that off.
Pretty surprising it works at all now!
It would have been bout 3 hour video with lots'ocussin.

Trying to ask again - has anyone tried to take advantage of samba4 specific feature on this build? Does it work? I tried to set the MinSMBProtocol to SMB3 — but didn’t work.

I’m running a standard samba share on an attached disk. Works perfectly but I haven’t tried tweaking the configuration in any non-standard way. _________________ Netgear R7000 on Build 55109

Do you know if your client is connecting via SMB3 or SMB2? SMB3 support was only added in Samba 4 — it has more security features than SMB2. Client should theoretically auto negotiate a highest protocol compatible with the server... but I can’t get the client to connect with SMB3

I have plenty of header parts to use to solder in place. But I probably need a better iron than what I have. Which paper clips do you use, because I know the size of the holes on Linksys and what does and don't fit on most of the connectors. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

just a regular standard paperclip (not a big one)
straighten it and clip it off down to a good size, don't need it too long
fits rather loosely in header holes --- that's why I pull all three to the side and tape

This is what separates the true geeks, from the wannabes, the selection of paper clips.

Oh I see it now. I have been lazy and just stick either bare wires in or wires with pins and then do similar with the tape or my fingers :O
Were the samba configuration variables added to a .conf or nvram? Or are they hard-coded? Hmmm....
I run custom smb.conf to get my own setup. basically copy the generated one, tweak a few parameters and launch it on a startup script. I added max/min protocol there.
