Hmm, curiouser and curiouser. I'm in build r40009 and http is checked on the aministration page. Maybe that's something that changed in all builds afterwards?

interesting.......
the only thing i really do other then stock is that
I use static settings on the startup page because i prefer to have a diffrent subnet then from the modem less conflicts that way
Modem 192.168.1.1
1900c 192.168.2.1
Static forwards to gateway ( modem ) on setup page
Static IP for router setup in the modem
Router is a wireless bridge its how this area is connected period.

i have my own private server in house for various reasons so there times the router gets a work out.....

Wireless radios are all manuel set no auto nothing

I use a DDNS update script,Port forwards, Range forwards, Unpnp is on, USB support is on but i dont use QOS

the only thing i have ever run into for the gui randomly not being there is when running web servers and so on I used to run 2 racks and multiple virtual servers to rent space on them and access to the GUI conflicted for the ports during setup untill i got all the static port forwards in there.

you dont have nothing conflicting for the port i suppose?

Flashed via Firefox on 1900ACS V2.

Strange behaviour on WiFi - laptop behaves normally with expected dl speed, but my smartphone is yielding very low dl speeds on AC (4MB rather than 65). Edit - disabling QoS fixed the slow download speeds. QoS working well on build after adjusting it slightly and restarting).

I've had trouble with the 5 GHz radio on all firmwares. No connections or slow speeds on 5 GHz after upgrading. Going to the wireless tab and clicking on apply settings usually fixes the problem. I'm using WRT3200acm's though. I have a WRT1900ACSv1 but it doesn't work well on my WDS system - it reboots every hour and that causes the entire network to drop for a few minutes - so I don't use it anymore.

Upgraded from 41218 via GUI without any problems; uptime is 3 days. No issues other than the usual red http authorization/authentication errors in syslog which I've been seeing for at least a year now. Performance is excellent and feels very snappy. Very stable in my environment. 40134, 40459, 40784, 40932, 41027, 41218 and now 41328 have all been great in my environment.

I upgraded my internet service from 100 up/down to 300 up/down. OpenVPN on my WRT3200ACM peaked at about 100 down and 130 up however. Took the plunge and setup Wireguard. 3X performance gain over OpenVPN. Easily getting 300+ up and down now with Mullvad Wireguard.

Linksys WRT3200ACM: gateway mode, DNSMasq for DNS and DHCP, Wireguard client (Mullvad), Firewall enabled, QoS enabled HTB-CAKE, PBR enabled (SFE disabled). WIFI: 2.4ghz: G-only, 20mhz channel width, channel 1, WPA2-CCMP-128. 5ghz: AC/N mixed, 80mhz channel width, channel 100+6, WPA2-CCMP-128.

Linksys WRT1900ACS: router mode, hardwired ethernet lan to WRT3200ACM above. WIFI: 2.4ghz: NG-mixed, 20mhz channel width, channel 6, WPA2-CCMP-128. 5ghz: AC/N mixed, 80mhz channel width, channel 52+6, WPA2-CCMP-128.

Just curious but do you use QoS? I'm asking because it's my belief that's causing a lot of the problems people are having in builds since about r40009.

I don't know what Wireguard is but sounds like something worth checking out.

Have you also tried to use Wireguard as a Server?
I get a really lousy performance (10 MBit/s) compared to OpenVPN when running as server Sad
I wonder whether what the cause for that is.

I only Use WireGuard as a client. So far, so good. I followed this thread to configure it: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=319319&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I've been using QOS for at least a year. I just have it enabled on the WAN port with HTB-cake and have the uplink and downlink speeds limited to about 90% max ISP speed. I don't have any priorities defined. I did some tests and found out that just by having QOS enabled keeps ping times and jitter as low as possible when running multiple speed tests from different devices

I also found out that the uplink and downlink limits do not apply to OpenVPN traffic through TUN1, so basically I was only limiting unencrypted traffic bypassing TUN1 using PBR. With Wireguard, even though you can select OET1 and apply service and interface limits/priorities to it, this does not seem to work and QOS continues to only apply to unencrypted traffic bypassing OET1.

Hardware: Linksys WRT1900ACSv2

The 5GHz was not working. Had to do:
Wireless > Basic Settings -> buttons read "undefined" had to "Apply Settings" to fix

Upgraded from r39144 std (03/11/19)
Internet speed: 217 Mb/s (expected 200 Mb/s)
LAN speed: 561 Mb/s (previous was 613 Mb/s)
WiFi speed (2.4 Ghz): 64 Mb/s (previous was 119 Mb/s)
WiFi speed (5 Ghz): 30 Mb/s (previous was 97 Mb/s)
Can ping WiFi printer and see web page (from LAN, 4172ms, 21% packet loss)
OpenVPN server is working
Samba NOT working.

FYI - I tried the samba3 trick:

{ sleep 15; stopservice smartd; stopservice samba3; startservice samba3; } &

Did not help. I have a thumbdrive installed, no need to wait for a disk to spin-up.

No messages in syslog about samba.

From what I see it's for better security to have the local address on a secured port.

It's probably best to leave it that way and bookmark it.

The QOS portion of this router is still not 100% in my opinion. I don't use it.

The only draw back I have is that I'm not getting the full throttle of my ISP. Instead of 1Gbps I'm getting about 500Mbps. Maybe I need to fine tune some parameters on the WAN.

Yeah its under administration. Mine shows https ticked. I gotta tinker with it to see how its setup.

Well, i was using build r43175 and again lost the GUI after about 16hrs up time. Not sure exactly but that's when I checked.

I telneted in and ran ps like you said and got
httpd -n -p 80

So mine didn't switch to https. I still can't access the gui with either https://192.168.1.1:80 or http://192.168.1.1:80

i don't know what is wrong but i'm tired of seeing the same exact problems in every build for months.

I played around with telnet trying to figure out how I could restart it without physically rebooting the router. Just to test I killed the httpd process and let it restart itself. Once it restarted the webgui was back up again so there is definitely something in the router firmware that's not refreshing properly.

Ok two things I can think of:

a) your browser has port 80 blocked by default. Try another browser.

b) the router needs a reboot. The httpd process needs to be refreshed. You can either reboot the router or use SSH by typing these commands.

Code:

killall httpd
sleep 1
httpd -p 443

Sometimes port 88 and 80 are blocked by browsers. Check to see if that works.

I'm not that experienced with linux but killing the process is exactly what I did. I just used the process number with "kill ####" and letting it restart, It still comes back up as port 80 and since it works after killing the process It has to be something not refreshing properly.

When I lose access to the GUI I notice it on different devices. Today I noticed it on my 7" tablet using kiwi browser. Chrome was the same. I keep various browsers on my desktop pc for testing things and none could access it until I rebooted the process.

Thanks for the code tips though. I might change the port to 443 just to see if that makes any difference over time or if I'll lose access again.

@ ellick, accessing via wired or wireless? Just asking out of curiosity.
