Status: Up and running for 24 hours (had a private build to test), basic setup as Gateway, static leases, OpenVPN client (on PIA) with Policy Based Routing up and running, 2,4GHz, 5Ghz USB storage NAS and OpenVPN server working
Resolved:
1. Pushed DNS servers from VPN provider are now used, if you do not want that, add the following to the Additional Config of the VPN client:
pull-filter ignore "dhcp-option DNS"
2. This build has an improved VPN Policy Based Routing, it is now possible to use the VPN route command i.e. to route a DNS server via the VPN (in this way you will get rid of the DNS leak), see: https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/6815#comment:1 , and for DNS leaks the second posting of this thread: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=318662 3. Another improvement on PBR is that local routes are now copied over to the alternate routing table so there is communication if you have unbridged VAP's and you can set the router's IP on PBR.
See: https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/6821#comment:3 4. Starting with this build, the PBR has become more versatile, you can now use " from [IP address] to [IP address] ", so if you enter the following in the PBR field:
192.168.1.124 to 95.85.16.212 #ipleak.net, it will only route IP address 95.85.16.212 (which is ip leak.net) from my IP address 192.168.1.124 via the VPN everything else from this IP address will route via the WAN (this is just an example).
See: https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/6822
Although this command itself supports routing per port this is however only available starting from K 4.17 so we have to rely on scripting for per port routing until then.

Router Model TP-Link WR1043ND V2
Firmware Version DD-WRT v3.0-r41174 std (09/26/19)
Kernel Version Linux 3.18.140 #55276 Thu Sep 26 07:57:17 +04 2019 mips
update: CLI 41135 > 41174
reset: YES
status: Operational
errors: after update (no reset) opkg was broken, had to reset and manually rebuild after the update...
buggy GUI all the boxes insert wired empty lines on paste commands..i know its a cosmetic, but it took me a time to reconfigure, especially ssh key box, tried few browsers too, its so frustrating,
anyway build is working as it should...
for R7800 I'm still loyal to last Kong build, will wait another day ...
same for R7000 will stay Kong for Life _________________ Atheros

Stubby for DNS over TLS I DNSCrypt v2 by mac913
I'm on Windows 1903 and I can't use the Samba/Nas service because Windows by default disabled Sambe 1/CIFS.
If I enable it via add features to Windows, I can use the NAs just fine, however it's not secure, I don't want to use it.
My Android device with latest ES File Explorer (supports Samba 2+) can connect to both my Windows shares AND the router's NAS shares.
I tried to edit router smb.conf file but it reset at each restart. What do I need to do?
I am supposed to add "min samba = 3" (can't remember the exact line) into the smb.cfg right? Right the the max smb version in the conf file is 2 and I can't add anything to the jff\etc.
Can you help me?
Running Archer C7 v1 here, can you at least make me a build with samba 3 as default?
Before I start I have TWO EA8500’s and one R7800 and it’s not uncommon for me to switch their roles. Loaded this build up as Access Point only on the EA8500 to replace the last Kong build and no upside or downsides as an AP only.
However there was a noticeable speed increase when I replaced the Kong build on the EA8500 running as an ovpn client. I received about a 15Mbps bump in D/L speed over the Kong build on EA8500 as ovpn client which is huge because previously it was only registering 40Mbps D/L with the Kong build. I see there is a newer release but going to run this one for a couple more days before upgrading. Thank you BS
I have a Brother network printer on the secondary LAN segment. From a PC on the primary LAN segment, I can ping the printer BUT I cannot get the printer web page to display.
Weird thing is if I connect a second TL-WR703N v1, also running r41174 and also configured identically to the first CB router, on to the primary segment via ethernet cable, then the printer web pages appear successfully. As soon as I disconnect the second router, web pages cease but pings still work!!!!

Thnank you.
Samba 1 is not enabled on my windows PC clients ( I have several als with a new install)
I have no problem accessing my samba shares on my routers.
You can alter the smb.conf but to implement the changes you have to restart smb and that will undo your changes.
The max protocol version is hard coded in the source code (so not even in nvram) so bottom line is you can not change it.
However the workaround is to kill samba and start it with your own conf files (I have done this to run a WINS server on Samba (which was not very succesfull)), but I am not sure it will help you because it seems we are using Samba 3.6.25 and although the name indicate otherwise it will only support SMB2 (I think, I am not sure about this) _________________ Routers:Netgear R7800, R6400v1, R6400v2, Linksys EA8500, EA6900 (XvortexCFE), E2000 (converted WRT320N), WRT54GS v1.

Mate, thanks for getting back.
My Windows 10 PCs can see each other, my android devices can see my Windows and router NAs but the Windows 1903 can't see router NAs without enabling Smb 1.
How did you get it to work?
I can't believe in this and age when Windows auto disabled SMB 1, the devs are neglecting this issue.

What I am trying to say is that there I do not have a problem
None of my windows clients (all on 1903) have SMB1 enabled and they have no problem getting in touch with my router/NAS.
DDWRT is using SMB2.
If you are referring to Windows discovery/Netbios then that is not working reliably (it is not the smb part but the nmb part which is responsible for the NetBIOS name serving) so you have to make a connection by IP address or I use local DNS to get to my NAS
