Upgraded WRT1200AC v1 from r40854 to r40890 using Waterfox 56.2.13 (64 bit) running on Linux Mint 19.1 OS.

Flashed to partition 2 from partion 1. Successful update and reboot. Usual OpenVPN yellows in syslog. No reset,no issues

Kernel Version Linux 4.9.190 #1273 SMP Tue Sep 3 03:02:37 CEST 2019 armv7l

Sep 3 07:56:31 router daemon.notice openvpn[1658]: OpenVPN 2.4.7 arm-unknown-linux-gnu [SSL (OpenSSL)] [LZO] [LZ4] [EPOLL] [MH/PKTINFO] [AEAD] built on Sep 3 2019
Sep 3 07:56:31 router daemon.notice openvpn[1658]: library versions: OpenSSL 1.1.1c 28 May 2019, LZO 2.09

Ran r40854 since release with no issues at all. Hoping r40890 matches the performance.

Flashed with FF68.0.2x64. No issues. Quick restart. OpenVPN did not reconnect. I had to disable VPN, Apply, enable, Apply. VPN connected quickly and all is well.

(missed updating my signature the first time.)

A couple of experiments you might try on your next boot. I'd be curious to hear the results. After the boot (or at any time, actually), just either
  1. hit Apply on the openvpn client setup page. For me that's always restarted openvpn. I've never needed to disable and re-enable.
  2. Or do killall -HUP openvpn in the CLI. For me that restarts the vpn connection very cleanly, per the vpn log.

Let's see if we can sort out what was removed, if anything, to make this release smaller (before I actually flash it). My biggest concern is DNSCrypt, since the enable button for it disappeared some time ago. Could someone try ls -l /etc/dnscrypt/dnscrypt-resolvers.csv /usr/sbin/dnscrypt-proxy in the CLI? Here's what it produced for me (in 40784):
Quote:
# ls -l /etc/dnscrypt/dnscrypt-resolvers.csv /usr/sbin/dnscrypt-proxy
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 22309 Aug 24 22:31 /etc/dnscrypt/dnscrypt-resolvers.csv
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 266883 Aug 24 22:34 /usr/sbin/dnscrypt-proxy

If those two files are there in the new release. then presumably we still have the option of using the old DNSCrypt (discussed in the post linked in my sig) without the entware requirement of the new DNSCrypt as discussed in https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=320764.

Webflashed from r4009 on partition 2 to partition 1.

Everything seems good but the openvpn startup is still bugged. I have to press save then press apply twice before it will start. This occurs in the last 4-5 builds I've tried.

bug report here: https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/6785#no1

This is just a minor nuisance. I start and stop my vpn all the time to get around a geo-restriction on mlb.tv for baseball games so I notice it.

I'm happy BS has gotten the firmware size back under control. now "let them eat cake!"

In the log for the latest firmware there are red entries:
Code:

I don't know is that bad?

PIZZEDMEOFF and PavelVD, thanks much re DNSCrypt. Very encouraging! So far I'm not seeing any reason not to take this as the new go-to build.
