I hate to say....seems like you have gremlins and need to try factory reset in gui and re-enter all your settings.

If you haven't done that in a while, it's likely something is lingering from a past build. You need to start fresh again.

I'd be more inclned to do this if the nvram backup file wasn't in some damn stupid binary format.

WTF would anyone think that's a good way to do it?

IT SHOULD BE HUMAN READABLE TEXT.

My wndr3700v4 did that 4 days ago on upgrade to 40672.

I guess I got lucky while trying tftp and reset (apparently with a broken reset button) and power cycle and ping and so on it just finally went ahead and booted.
I had no further problems.

Upgraded to 40723 yesterday with no trouble.
