anyone here with an x86 router that can test cpu performance using a to be provided, ad/tracking block file with dnsmasq? place the adblock.txt file somewhere, add this to dnsmasq conf file so it loads it conf-file=/jffs/adblock.txt, is mine currently. replace /jffs with whereever its placed. make sure dnsmasq is set as the dns server for the network.

currently the list has about 951k lines and its becoming too hard to run for the r7800 ipq8065 1.7ghz soc, and want a x86 based replacement soon, while i know pc hardware, its hard to get any comparison data on x86 cpus vs arm stuff that most routers use.

having similar or above the following specs would help the most:

cpu: any intel core i3/5/7 first gen or higher, @ 2.3ghz or higher, dual core a minimum (prefer 2.5ghz+) or any amd phenom II (ddr3 version) @ 2.5ghz+ or newer
ram: 2gb ddr3 or more @ 1066mhz or higher

the command to run is "time nslookup domain.here" example something in the list, doubleclick.net. so "time nslookup doubleclick.net". do it a few times, please post the result of the "real" output. currently on r7800 its @ 350ms..

real 0m 0.35s

i tested already using my desktop it gets 0.06s but thats an 8700k, far too expensive for a dns server. and my haswell i7 4710mq laptop wont run ddwrt just boot crash loops.

so i need some results from similar hardware i plan to buy.
