These error messages never seem to go away. Are they coming up when you connect via wi-fi or wired? Did you set another username for webUI access besides root?

A few days ago I got annoyed with these messages so I changed my username to root. It did not help. I monitor all my routers on IE11 as it is simple since I don't use IE11 for anything else and can setup my home page to all my routers. Everytime however I start IE11 it seems to cause the errors to appear. I can make changes, reboot, etc. without incident but if I close IE11 and restart, oops there's my redline. If I sign in with EDGE, the same result. _________________ Starlink & DSL -> TPLink TL-R470T+

Sounds like a Microsuck problem, perhaps. You don't have to change the username for the webUI, just the password. I had these errors with non-Microsuck browsers when I kept setting the username to 'admin' way back before my first brick. Haven't seen this error message in quite some time since I quit doing that that I recall. I just wish the ntp update was closer to every 24 hours than every damn hour.

I reported this problem on forum page of the previous release firmware but I guess nobody noticed it.
If you change the ip address of your vpn server in the vpn client configuration and then if you press to the apply button, in fact it does not apply the new configuration and you have to press to the apply button one more time, otherwise it does not connect to vpn service.

(Update in my second paragraph to add a DNSCrypt V2 link.)

I haven't updated DD-WRT in a while on my Linksys WRT1900ACS.
Now I see all kind of comments about problems with updates and partitions. Is this still an issue?
Releases through 40134 fit in either partition of 1900 and older WRTs, but newer releases only fit in the first partition, apparently because of a bigger linux kernel. My impression is that the 3200s don't have this issue. Some have claimed that the CLI flashing procedure from the top of 40189 new-build thread https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=320387 can handle a slightly larger build than the GUI webflash, but frankly I can't see any reason this makes sense. I've flashed both ways.
I'm on 40009, which seems to be a solid build. If you're a dnscrypt user, see my signature link on dnscrypt, as the Encrypt DNS button is gone by this release, though the underlying code is still available and will fully support dnscrypt if set up in the Startup commands. Update: Some have moved on to DNSCrypt V2, though the setup is more involved: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=320764. DNS-over-TLS has been worked out for the WRTs also: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1166512
My understanding is that 40134 is also fairly solid, though with some issues for certain users. See the new-build post.
I'm still waiting for a build newer than 40134 that seems to be without problems. Some are brave and will try anything. I'm a big chicken, myself. As always, check out the new-build posts. _________________ 2x Netgear XR500 and 3x Linksys WRT1900ACSv2 on 53544: VLANs, VAPs, NAS, station mode, OpenVPN client (AirVPN), wireguard server (AirVPN port forward) and clients (AzireVPN, AirVPN, private), 3 DNSCrypt providers via VPN.

How exactly can this be fixed, if kernel size got bigger? Some filesystem compression?

changed both user name and pw to custom ones
same error with wired and wifi
same error with Google Chrome and IE
Then that is why you are getting this error. This is why I got it when I set the username to 'admin' instead of 'root'. This is default behavior.

Nope, no change
I changed the username to "root" and still get httpd error 401 _________________ WRT3200ACM openwrt 18.06.5
