I recently got my temperamental 825 to take DD-WRT, it was an improvement no doubt. I had a hard time getting it to load, the 30/30/30 method did not work for me on various browsers, PCs, bins, you name it, it simply would not upload. So I tried to upload the build dated 7-24-13 via the Dlink interface and it worked. So now a few weeks later I tried to upgrade it to a newer version and it says it say uploads successful, it reboots, all seems well. But the top left corner still has the 7-24-13 date of the first bin as the firmware. Is this normal, or am I not doing something right?
I have searched the forum and can't find anything related to this

first....i keep repeating it 30/30/30 is only for an
old Linksys WRT routers to other routers can cause issues, in your case it puts your router in recovery position or so.... so that y its advised to use either
reset button ot software reset via GUI or command line
do keep in mind 825 is a problematic unit and you have to find a working build for it testing or reading the threads....
there are a lot of new build threads to go trough and there must be a specific 825 thread too...try to post/read there...
flashing trough CLI must be the most reasonable way if GUI update doest work...
good luck
have a look on this post there is a positive report about 825

OP I also have the same router and find it very temperamental on upgrading. I have v38993 on it and it runs fine. If you get a chance and are able to upgrade it, ill be curious to see what v. runs well. _________________ modem: arris tm1602

I currently running 40400 on my 825 B1. I have not had a chance to upgrade it yet. I always upgrade via GUI. I have not had a problem in more than 6 months with upgrading. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

30/30/30 is typically for Broadcom MIPS. I don't think it applies to any other MIPS platform (Atheros, IPQ, Ralink, MediaTek, etc.), but is specific to Broadcom MIPS, pretty much all of the Linksys devices, at least. Including the E and EA series routers with Broadcom MIPS CPUs. I was trying to ignore your post, but ...
That's fine you were trying to ignore, but... somehow and multiple times as well, the 30/30/30 method or perhaps the 30/30 method or some combination of it on the dlink router lands you onto the factory firmware upload page. Perhaps it's just holding the reset button for an unknown amount of time, but regardless it gets you to where you want to go. I know you don't believe it, but it's true...
I'm trying to set up a repeated bridge and the previous version would become unconnectable... it worked once or twice, very flaky. Hopefully I can find a good article on how to create a VAP, and hook up my 2.5 and 5ghz channels to my main router. The article I followed previously, didn't say anything about authentication to the main router with the ssid/password. And I didn't see a new client in my clients list on the main router so I assume it didn't work. If anyone has a good step by step instruction on how to create a router bridge with Atheros chips I would greatly appreciate it. Will keep on googling and fumbling till then.
