On a WAN to LAN 1 gigabit Sonic connection:

Code:
➜  ~ python speedtest-cli
Retrieving speedtest.net configuration...
Testing from Sonic.net (157.x.x.x)...
Retrieving speedtest.net server list...
Selecting best server based on ping...
Hosted by Comcast (San Francisco, CA) [3.54 km]: 3.844 ms
Testing download speed................................................................................
Download: 732.71 Mbit/s
Testing upload speed................................................................................................
Upload: 712.13 Mbit/s

Can I squeeze anything to get the last 280 megabits? Connecting directly to an Ubuntu host, I get the expected 980 mbits/s

SFE is enabled with firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r39345M kongac (04/03/19)

On my R7000 (uses the same Broadcom BCM4709A0 as your R6700), I can get performance in the 900's with the Xbox speed test, but only after I enabled IPv6 (I assume that's because there's no NAT overhead).

OP says the router is a R6700v3 which has a BCM4708C0, it also runs at 1Ghz but not sure if performance is the same.

R6700v1 has the BCM4709A0

I have an R6400v2 (among others Smile)
This is the same router internally, so 1GHz dual core Arm A9.
Without SFE almos 300 Mb/s, With SFE almost 700 Mb/s

That is all you can get from this type of CPU with DDWRT.

Stock firmware (which has a proprietary SFE called CTF (Cut Through Forwarding) is faster, I have heard someone claiming 900 Mb/s but I have not tested it myself.

If you want faster you need a faster router Sad

I honestly haven't seen much difference between DD-WRT (SFE) and FreshTomato (CTF) on my speed tests. But, FT doesn't have all ARM Broadcom devices' detection and support added (yet).

Good clarification, thanks.

I'd still try IPv6 to eliminate NAT overhead if OP is chasing higher numbers on his existing hardware.
