Dear All,
About a year ago, I bought a linksys ea7500 router. Recently, I started to learn about reasons why one would install dd-wrt on a router in the first place. After reading and researching, I decided I'd install dd-wrt on the router, but to my surprise it appears to me as though the linksys ea7500 is NOT a device that dd-wrt supports.
Is there any hope that there will be support for this router in the future?

I grabbed an EA7500 because it was the "best one on the shelf" and I figured that even if it sucked, I could flash it with an alt OS. My (ignorant) expectation was that, surely by now any "current" LinkSys models would be reasonable open to the geek community...
<cue "womp womp" noise...>
I guess while I wasn't looking, Cisco turned over this product line to Belkin. I'm just mad I didn't do my homework first, because now I've had the blasted thing too long to return it, and the feature set is utter hot garbage. No CLI, no SNMP, no IP blacklists, and what minimal functionality it DOES have is all hidden behind counter-intuitive dummy-buttons that make me want to dig my eyes out with a spork rather than look at them.
Not really y'alls problem, I know - I just needed to vent. Any hope of this thing ever being included on the supported model list, or should I just re-enact the fax machine scene from Office Space? Inquiring minds want to know...

I wouldn't hold your breath....
You might be able to convince BS to make a "blind" version for the EA7500, but I've only see him do it for the new Netgear XR series, and archer A7, and that seems like it's been very problematic for for XR series where many can't get the build to flash over.
The EA7500 is using wifi chips that are in the same family as the EA8500 and R7800...but I don't know if the drivers from the R7800 will support the chips on the EA7500...
Being that no one on openWRT has ported this router either...yeah you goofed when you bought it...it happens...ebay the EA7500 and replace with a R7800 from Ebay. You can grab one for $75-$95. I just snagged one for $85 for a co-worker... _________________ FORUM RULES
