I had an old DIR-615 C1 that I hadn't used in a few year and for some reason it wouldn't respond to pings and not broadcast a network. It seemed to be bricked.
It would just have the power light on orange and blink every ~15 seconds. I tried all of the standard fixes (30/30/30 retest, booting into recovery mode, using a static IP) and none of it worked. With a lot of searching there was someone who said that switching out the included power adapter (5V 2.5A) with a different one (I used a 12v 1A) would fix it. I tried and it worked.
I have no idea why this worked, but it did. I figured some people would like to know of this fix. I'd recommend you only use this as a last resort since this could brick your router. |
