Hi!

I'm running dd-wrt v3.0-r40270M kongat on a Netgear R7800 with an external 3tb WD Blue drive attached to the router.

For the network connection I'm using the dd-wrt GUI version of Samba, with read/write activated (smb.conf attached).

When connected to my windows PC I can write and read but when I connect it to the router I can only read. I tried to write on it over the network with an android and 2 Windows10 PCs.

I also tried an old 500gb drive with the same settings and everything worked as it should.

I formated the 3tb drive from NTFS to Ext3, same result. Several different drive tests found no problem with the drive.

Can anybody help me with this matter?

PS:
I found several similar posts that(I think) doesn't apply to my problem since I'm using the GUI version of samba and the small drive works.

Did you partition it MBR or GUID?

IIRC, several Linux distro's which would include DD-WRT can only support MBR partitions up to 2.2TB.

Thx for your reply. I used the GUID partition table.

Ok, I found a solution.

It was the HDD partitioning after all.

My solution:
Don't ever use a crappy partition software (I used MiniTool Partition Wizard)!
After using diskpart for NTFS and gdisk for EXT3 I could read and write on the HDD.

Why on earth would you ever even think to partition a HDD thru a Network interface?????
I never even use USB for something as critical as that.

I doubt it was the fault of the software. Rolling Eyes
