Jason,
I need to update my sig.
Actually my current setup is
R7000 - Router (XVortex Merlin fork with adblock & IP blocking enabled) & r7800 running Kong openWRT 19.07 as an AP.
I am not the best resource for openwrt config questions. Just running as an AP based on google found settings.

It contains performance fixes + custom theme + package repo + extra features.

Ok thanks.
I read on openwrt that with 19.07 there's no installable packages from buildbot, at least on hnyman's release, so here all the packages are installable, I understand correctly?

@<Kong>
What do you think is better for R7800? OpenWrt or dd-wrt, my hope is to have a quite stable build that sometimes I've to update.
Any advice?

All the ones, that I build, right now about 1000 packages.

Openwrt updates are more consistent, means updates should not break things that have been working previously. DD-WRT is a rolling release, new features come in fast, but you never know what an update breaks. That's why my main router runs on my Openwrt build now.

Very good, where I can see the repository? Before install I want to check the all packages I need are in place, I think so but just to check before Very Happy
At the end I've to put openvpn server + client + pbr + ddns (no-ip)

J

Never mind, found! Very Happy

I did try the latest 19.07 and build is still not optimized for cake qos. The maximum speed is only 280 mbs out of my 570mbs cable ISP.
The bufferbloat is not much better compare to DDWRT for my setup and ISP. The GUI is crazy over complicated and user have to be Linux guru.
Back to Kong-DDWRT and happy for now

After sticking with Kong's DD-WRT builds for years, keen to try this. Are there any good resources to look at with rwgrd to setup, including guest WiFi? Looked on Open-wrt site but all guides appear to be command line, and not with the LuCi GUI - unless I'm looking in the wrong places?

Jason, I've found the same issue when googling for guides.
Almost everything is written for command line.

If you find a nice gui guide, please share.
