This is using an interesting/odd-ball IPQ4019 quad-core SoC. AFAIK, the R9000 is the only quad-core SoC BS has tackled and it was one of his biggest challenges to port over.
Although the IPQ4019 came out in 2016, it hasn't been messed with by BS yet. My guess is that no one has ever donated one to BS to tinker/play with; so, unless you want to ship him a refurb for $66ish on amazon right now, you'll have to wait.
Judging by the pics over at openwrt, you'll likely have to crack the case open and solder header pins on for a USB-TTL adapter. This will likely be necessary to overcome the bullshit lock-down on firmware Linksys has on a lot of newer routers like they did on the EA8500 (Thanks FCC). You'll likely have to use this guide for the EA8500 for your EA8300: http://mrjcd.com/EA8500_DD-WRT/ to get openwrt loaded.
Most likely you're not willing to undertake f'ing up your $160+ router...so...you got to ask yourself....you feeling lucky?! _________________ FORUM RULES
