Yall give me a min im about to try to break stuff lol. ill post back how it went.
Update on situation:
Well i tried to update from the gui, twice and both times it rebooted back to the previous firmware...
Tried it from a reset, Same thing.
Found the issue:
this firmware is slightly bigger so the GUI bug applies to this one, you have to use the console to flash it.
other then that seems to be working alright to me, gui wise and the basics, and my configuration.
refresher course:
ubootenv get boot_part ( says 1 )
ubootenv set boot_part 2 ( to change to partition 2)
cd /tmp ( changes to temp directory
ftp site: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2019/07-04-2019-r40189/
write ddwrt ( hit tab key to finish the rest) linux
so example mine is: ddwrt-linksys-wrt1900ac-webflash.bin
so it would be
write ddwrt-linksys-wrt1900ac-webflash.bin linux
reboot <enter> ( to reboot the router. ) _________________ Downloads:

Details: The update process took longer than expected but not excessively long. Once the router rebooted, DNS services failed. I did some testing and found that if I had OpenVPN turned on, DNS failed. Turning off OpenVPN and rebooting restored DNS but lookup times were very slow. I confirmed this by trying the update three times. Reverting to 6/27/19 restored all functions. _________________ Netgear R9000

Thanks for the detailed reports. It would appear that R40134 is the most usable of the recent (last thirty days or so) releases. It does everything I need it to do, so I'll stick with it for now. _________________ Router: Linksys WRT1900ACSv2

r40134 is very good for me, no issues at all. I will use this as my fall-back version if any future ones act up. _________________ Netgear R9000

Only complaint (Reports as r40188) which others have stated
Got back from a 17 day motorcycle trip...
Router was on r40009 the entire time I was away
and performed without issues.
Tried last night to go to latest r40189 (via webflash).
Reported success but then would reboot back to previous partition. Decided to try r40134 which worked right away without issue. Decided to try r40189 again (weblash) today. Same thing. Said success then booted back to previous partition. Going to stay on r40134 as it works well for me in my configuration. _________________ WRT1900ACSv2
