I recently upgraded my cable modem/router to a service that is 100Mbps (or better). When I did this the E4200 DD-WRT router that I was using between my internal network and the cable modem seemed to be a bottleneck.
As soon as I started using the ISPs modem as a full modem/router versus just modem (passthru), my overall performance increased significantly.
Now, I'm trying to get their stupid router to open up a port for my VPN connection to get through to my server... FAIL. Bottom line, I'd like to go back to managing my router (DD-WRT) myself and put their modem back to basic passthru.
Given there a many devices in my home that will be streaming via this 100Mbps connection, can I get some suggestions on DD-WRT supported models that can manage this load without being a bottleneck?
Price matters, of course, but I'm happy to start by looking at 'Cadillac' options...

What build are you using? Flash 40065 and enable SFE (Basic Setup tab); if you have any further issues, do a reset and set up manually.
@kernel-panic69 is running an E4200 with 40065; don't use the current latest (40167) though. Always consult the new build threads before flashing. _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#

40065 K3.x is still one particular commit short, but otherwise. I probably don't have near the clients connected as the OP. One thing I have not tested is overclocking to 533 MHz, only because I haven't added extra cooling. I also haven't tested any configs I could carry over to FreshTomato much, either

I didn't realize the E4200 has the same SoC as my WNDR4000, which I've been running at 533 since I put DD on it (...and a heatsink), in my first DD foray in spring 2015.
Many OEMs run the 4718A1 @533 by default (they may have OEM heatsinks). /nudge

I'm currently running 40352 on one of mine. There are a few releases since that build, but I'm still waiting for the whole SFE / PBR / QoS / UDP forwarding issue to settle out.
