I will try this ...I like tinkering anyways.Doing benchmarks and comparison is fun for me.

For those that want to do benchmarks:

opkg update
opkg install speedtest-netperf

speedtest-netperf.sh

Gives upload/download throughput with latency and cpu load.

E.g.:

2019-06-25 11:53:56 Starting speedtest for 60 seconds per transfer session.
Measure speed to netperf.bufferbloat.net (IPv4) while pinging gstatic.com.
Download and upload sessions are sequential, each with 5 simultaneous streams.
.............................................................
Download: 82.91 Mbps
Latency: [in msec, 61 pings, 0.00% packet loss]
Min: 17.423
10pct: 17.897
Median: 18.428
Avg: 18.386
90pct: 18.796
Max: 19.191
CPU Load: [in % busy (avg +/- std dev) @ avg frequency, 58 samples]
cpu0: 8.6 +/- 2.6 @ 1677 MHz
cpu1: 34.3 +/- 1.4 @ 1709 MHz
Overhead: [in % used of total CPU available]
netperf: 15.8
.............................................................
Upload: 25.36 Mbps
Latency: [in msec, 61 pings, 0.00% packet loss]
Min: 17.461
10pct: 17.871
Median: 18.910
Avg: 19.201
90pct: 20.283
Max: 27.351
CPU Load: [in % busy (avg +/- std dev) @ avg frequency, 58 samples]
cpu0: 12.3 +/- 2.2 @ 1458 MHz
cpu1: 8.5 +/- 3.0 @ 1097 MHz
Overhead: [in % used of total CPU available]
netperf: 2.5

Next build will improve darkpro theme page load time.

Run 11/6 built about a week. Really love it.
Compare to DDWRT33762:
1. The wireless strength is better in default setting. With DDWRT 33762, it was hard to get a stable connection when I was in bathroom. But this OPENWRT can offer me stable connection on 2.4G and I can watch 10Mbps movie on NAS.

2. With DDWRT 33762, I lost the wireless sometimes. Had to set reboot at 4am everyday. With this OPENWRT, runs smoothly without reboot.

Attached a usb disk, I use Aria2 to download and my rpi could retire.

Only one issue. The USB speed is only about 35M when reading. With Linksys firmware, it was about 70M. Kong please make it fly.

Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much.

Don't use NTFS, Linksys probably has a proprietary ntfs driver with better performance. EXT4 will give you much better speed.

I use NTFS with Linksys firmware but use ext4 with openwrt. I have tried two USB HDD. One is 320g 7200r 2.5" HDD+jm567. The other one is evo850 500g + asm1351. Both are in similar speed.

this may sound dumb but if you're on windows make sure your wifi is set to private network instead of public which its firewall setting limits files sharing, for each router/fw despite same ssid

Just installed this on my r7800 Takes some getting used to.
How do I change the timezone?
Edit: found it lol.

What happened to wpa2-aes? too many options.

What should I have it set to?

It's not related to wifi. I teseted it by wired network.

After reboot, 2.4G went wrong. 5G works well, but can't find 2.4G, the signal strength is 0%

In https://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/luci/admin/network/wireless, "Restart" and "Disable-Enable" can't make it run.

"
ifconfig wlan0 down
ifconfig wlan0 up
"
made it.
------------------
After 20 mins, 2.4G went wrong again. Show 0%. Weird.
This time not lucky. "ifconfig" can't make it run.

2.4g works fine here. just shows 0% grayed out bars when no clients connected to it. could be some kind of power saving feature

Don't think it's a power saving. 2.4g can't be found, so laptop and mobile phone don't connect to it.
