Hi all
since I had trouble with my TP-Link I got a brand new R7800. I tried to search in the board but did not find good answer to the question which is the best firmware for my new router.
I want to use it for routing/gateway, OpenVPN, AD-blocking, and what ever I find to be usefull.
can you may answer me the following questions?
Kong or BS and why?
std or mega builds?
which beta build is the best regarding features/stability?
where to download it?
Thanks!
ps, I also take tips on how to search this forum efficiently

I see this all time in these forums and it is really a silly question.
It most likely depends on what you are doing with it, your ISP, connection speed, and what you want to do.
Using DD-WRT is usually a little learning experience for your particular setup.

I assume you mean Kong or BS (Brainslayer) builds.
That depends on what you are wanting to do ---

There is only first install 'factory-to-ddwrt.img' and the 'dd-wrt-webupgrade.bin' for that router.
Kong builds have the name like 'R7800-factory-to-ddwrt.img' and 'ddwrt-netgear-R7800.bin'

many people will tell you different things --- you need to find out youself
easiest way is use Google. Put 'dd-wrt' in front of whatever subject you are searching for.
You should read all 'New Build' posts before installing that build on your router just to see what others say.
Changes are being made all the time ...some good / some not so good
I have already read a lot but since R7800 Kong and BS are the most common strings in this forum it is really complicated to find some (even via google).
I am kindly asking you to share your experience and may recommend a build you are using on your R7800.
