EA8500 & WRT160NL NOTE:
samba share was not working after install so I ssh to both units and looked at PS and these guys were NOT running --
/usr/sbin/smbd -D --configfile=/tmp/smb.conf
/usr/sbin/nmbd -D --configfile=/tmp/smb.conf
So we just went in the webif to '../NAS.asp' and it all looked ok so I hit the 'Apply Settings' button and samba share tis worky fine now on both EA8500 & WRT160NL.
Only weird thing is --- the WRT160NL shows:
1333 root 2816 S /usr/sbin/smbd -D --configfile=/tmp/smb.conf
1338 root 2580 S /usr/sbin/nmbd -D --configfile=/tmp/smb.conf
1441 root 2924 S /usr/sbin/smbd -D --configfile=/tmp/smb.conf
not sure why he has two of the same processes running

Well Sir BS, I reckon you mucked-up sompin with EA8500 QOS.
I have for long time run HFSC FQ_Codel set 50000/50000 and its always been good till r40048
This was all on laptop on 2.4 but same bad with wired computers.
Don't know WTH
And NO I never use SFE .... have NO use for it with my 50/50 fiber connection.

@BS, Mesh is broken again. It was working in r40009 with encryption.
Now I have to disable encryption to make the radio transmit.
This is between two R9000. _________________ ASUS GT-BE98 PRO Main: Fiber 5gbps up/down

@stalonge, No It's an issue that got introduced, in this build.
Encryption was working before.
What BS said was that if you have Routers in Mesh mixed with Openwrt then you would need to disable encryption.
Not if you have all dd-wrt. _________________ ASUS GT-BE98 PRO Main: Fiber 5gbps up/down

R9000:
Gremlins showed up on 40009... 5ghz just stopped working/broadcasting. The gui showed it was working, no device could see 5ghz. Soft reboot, hard reboot, disable/enable radio, nothing worked. Since 40048 was released, I did a factory reset & upgrade to 40048 and loaded everything fresh again.
Once on 40048, 2.4ghz radio didn't want to broadcast, but it showed as working in gui...I went in wifi settings and played around with the network mode.
Originally-NG mixed, switched to mixed & hit apply, then switched back to NG mixed and hit apply again- Viola- 2.4ghz working again.
I have a cron job to reboot daily...we'll see what happens tomorrow... hopefully nothing because I am traveling for work all week... _________________ FORUM RULES
r40009 didn't do that and samba also worked just fine after I installed it.... but I see now the smbd process is only one like he should be
each new connection from your computer creates a new samba process. so if you have 2 computers connecting to a samba share you get 2 processes. this is called threading. normal behaviour by samba itself _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking?
